About this listen

When Shawna Haydel was 16 years old, she dropped Ashton Guidry's name into a potion that would supposedly make Ashton fall in love with her. She knew it was silly, but she clung to one irrational thread of hope their friend Patty's concoction would grant her heart's desire. Shawna's hopes were dashed when Ashton packed up her things and went away to college completely unaware of Shawna's feelings.

Twenty-three years after Patty's potion was brewed, Ashton returns to her hometown. She finds time has changed a lot, including Shawna. Ashton has done quite a bit of changing, too, and sees Shawna in a whole new light. Perhaps Patty's potion was potent after all.

Robin Alexander has done it again with this rom com. She had me laughing out loud with some of the scenes where Jet walks in and her resulting reactions. The snack bar from the pantry was hilarious.

Shawna's grandma is a little extreme with her homophobia; often outrightly offensive. Perhaps it is an exaggerated representation of some demographic in the south? Not being from the US, I just took it as fictional characterisation. There seemed to be subtle hints that she could be having some form of dementia which is probably why she speaks without any filters.

Wonderful work by Lori Prince with some of the voices. Some new ones compared to other books narrated by her. Kudos to Lori for managing the scene about 11 minutes from the end. Overall a pleasant, entertaining light read.

This story is incredible and so funny that I had tears streaming down my face. 😂
It is a touching beautiful romance with a great storyline that shows how true love can blossom.
Lori Prince was exceptional, her performance was brilliant and captivating and magnificent.
Robin and Lori nailed this romance and I definitely recommend it. ❤

This is the most Audible fun I've had for a while, this is uncomplicated (slight twist at the end) , entertaining listening. Robin Alexander has a knack for romantic comedy and Lori Prince, upped her usual high standard of narration with this one. Highly recommend this.
