About this listen

In this post-apocalyptic thriller, a group of American friends search for safety following disaster, but danger is hunting for them.

America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse—the stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce, and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.

As hordes of refugees and looters pour out of the cities, a small group of friends living in the Midwest desperately tries to make their way to a safe-haven ranch in Northern Idaho. The journey requires all their skill and training since communication, commerce, transportation, and law enforcement have all disappeared. Once at the ranch, the group fends off vicious attacks from outsiders and then looks to join other groups that are trying to restore true constitutional law to the country.

Patriots is a thrilling narrative depicting fictional characters using authentic survivalist techniques to endure the collapse of the American civilization. Listening to this compelling, fast-paced novel could mean the difference between life and death one day.

many of the chapters finish abruptly missing out parts of the story, which is disappointing!

The book is really two books the first a story of group of friends with a like minded view of the world and a strong urge to pray for the best of times yet prepare for the worst. Then it transitions into a classic good verses evil imperialist Tiranë of the invading federally under an unelected government verses the honest prepared rebellion forces of the militia that is underpinned by the constitutions right to bear arms and a strong belief in simple Christian values. The later in humble opinion would have been more impactful staged as a book two in the same way Kyla stone builds out her series as it would have allowed the reader an easier path to the introduction of the new characters. All that aside I enjoyed listening to the book.

Huge amounts of detail reminded me of Andy weir novels

I disliked the end of each chapter being missed off the recording. I did raise the issue but it was not resolved. Very disappointing recording given the quality of the story.

Loved the story but end of each chapter is missing

The book can be enjoyed as a very well written story, it is also a well presented manual for life in and after a shit hit the fan scenario. The research seems meticulous, my specialities are ham radio and some food production, these parts are accurate so I assume the weapons and tactics sections are also along the right lines. The political message is also well presented, and the occasional religious references secure a morality that is often missing from this type of discussion. The only drawback, as mentioned by others, is the abrupt ending of chapters where a few words, or maybe an entire sentence is missing. This is a shame but does not detract from the story or the information. Many thanks to the author.
