Summary

PARIS: A MILLION MEANINGS IN A SINGLE NAME

Heiress. Party girl. Problem child. Selfie taker. Model. Reality star. Self-created.

The labels attached to Paris Hilton.

Founder. Entrepreneur. Pop Culture Maker. Innovator. Survivor. Activist. Daughter. Sister. Wife. Mother.

The roles Paris embraces as a fully realized woman.

Paris rose to prominence as an heiress to the Hilton hotel empire but cultivated her fame and fortune as the IT Girl of the aughts, a time marked by the burgeoning 24-hour entertainment news cycle and the advent of the celebrity blog. Using her celebrity brand, Paris set in motion her innovative business ventures, while being the constant target of tabloid culture that dismissively wrote her off as “famous for being famous.” With tenacity, sharp business acumen and grit, she built a global empire and, in the process, became a truly modern icon beloved around the world.

Now, with courage, honesty, and humour, Paris Hilton is ready to take stock, place it all in context and share her story with the world. Separating the creation from the creator, the brand from the ambassador, Paris: The Memoir strips away all we thought we knew about a celebrity icon, taking us back to a privileged childhood lived through the lens of undiagnosed ADHD, a teenage rebellion that triggered a panicked – and perilous – decision by her parents. Led to believe they were saving their child’s life, Paris’s mother and father had her kidnapped and saw her sent to a series of ‘emotional growth boarding schools’, where she survived almost two years of verbal, physical and sexual abuse. In the midst of a hell we now call the ‘troubled teen industry’, Paris created a beautiful inner world where the ugliness couldn’t touch her. She came out, resolving to trust no-one but herself as she transformed that fantasy world into a multibillion-dollar reality.

Recounting her perilous journey through pre-#MeToo sexual politics with grace, dignity and just the right amount of sass. Paris: The Memoir tracks the evolution of celebrity culture through the story of the figure at its leading edge, full of defining moments and marquee names. Most important, Paris shows us her path to peace while she challenges us to question our role in her story and in our own.

Welcome to Paris.

Fantastic!

I thought I knew about Paris Hilton, I knew nothing except the tabloid headlines. Paris tells her story brilliantly, leaving you captivated and entertained while also feeling a huge amount of anger and upset about what went on in her teens.
You won’t regret listening to this memoir - although it seems as though the audio editor forgot to listen to the last hour or so, I thought my phone was glitching at the amount of repeated words and sentences that weren’t cut out! But don’t let that put you off. Superb!

The real Paris

I’ve never been a massive fan I watched the simple life but always saw what she put across as simple rich kid with that stupid voice. I was wrong what an awful start she had as a child can’t begin to imagine. I feel sorry for her lack of support from ppl around her. Madness. She is a power woman. Good read insightful.

Surprisingly good!

When you think of Paris you don’t immediately think resilience but what she’s been through is so traumatic it’s unbelievable she turned out so well! I can’t imagine it’s easy for her family to hear but hopefully they will acknowledge their part in the trauma at some point.

Surprising and Vulnerable

Paris's story was absolutely vulnerable and raw and her strength to rise from brutal circumstances honestly was one of a modern day heroine. Her never give up spirit inspires me and as a person that never would have counted myself as a fan is forever changed. I am definitely a strong supporter now.

I was not expecting that 🫢 What a woman!!

Incredible!
I couldn’t put it down … what a story, what a life, what a strong, strong woman.
I literally can’t believe what happened to her and so many others, how is that even a thing?!
Paris reads beautifully, explains everything so well and really gives a glimpse of the true life she leads… more reality and less instagram.
But not just the horrendous bits. She also pioneers and embraces the technology, change, the future and had a good, solid, strong head on her shoulders with the ability to laugh at herself.
She deserves all the good and happy she has finally found… thank you Miss Hilton, you are amazing!!!

Changed my opinion

Read Perfectly! I loved Paris when I was a teenager, but went off of her when the tabloids dished all the dirt on her. Now listening to her story my heart goes out to her. Glad she managed to turn her life around and took the opportunity to share her real truth.
