やがて、ミスター・ヤンの母親であるミセス・ヤンの手引きで香港社会を操る黒幕・ミスターパオにも出会うが、彼は英語を流暢に使いこなすプレーボーイで、シンガポール、香港と渡り歩き、中上作品にこれまでなかった新しいキャラクターとして描かれる。下巻では、鉄男のプレーボーイぶりが物語の読みどころとなっており、シンガポール（第二部 緑の館）、香港（第三部 翡翠の兵隊）とテンポ良く、スリリングかつエロティックな鉄男の暗躍が、読む者を魅了する。
中上作品の中でも最もエンターテイメント色の濃い作品で、雑誌「SPA!」に連載中、第三部の途中で未完のまま絶筆した。
