Summary

I'm in deep to the Mafia. My father was the one who made the deal, and when I inherited his club, I also inherited his troubles.

Ivan wants to save me, or so he says. More like he wants me to be his slave for a year. After the one-night stand I had with him, though, would that be so bad? With his impossibly hard body, and the way he always makes me scream....

But he's still a monster. He's a criminal, and something so much worse.

And yet I can't stop the tingling in my body every time I think of how he touched me, and those dark but delicious words rolling off his tongue, tinged with his Russian accent.

He knows what I'll say, even before I do. "I'll take your offer."

HEATED

Ivan the hitman is out to protect club owner Katie after seeing who were the Mafia's collector & he couldn't see her be threatened in the least if the protection money was late as. The collector would kill without order whilst Ivan 'only' kills when he's told to. What a gentleman. No really even after bribing Katie to be his 'kept woman with benefits' .
Though there's only a couple of areas of Where we see violence, but that was towards the off the book. It was a leisurely story of 2 different sides of a coin getting to know each other, becoming friends I'd say & definitely WITH benefits 😉
And it ends after the extreme with a loving HEA at the end of the year. Bliss

Wicked good!

I volunteered to review this ARC and yo leave an honest review ... honestly, it was awesome! I adored the narrators voice along with the talented accents and just all around feeling she put into the story to really bring it to life.

I enjoy audiobooks to listen to while driving or doing the dreaded housework, listening to the story just lightened the dreaded load.

Great job to Alexis Abbott for creating a wonderful storyline and also for allowing me to read & review

Pretty good, but....

This was a pretty good book. The only issue I have is I wish there was more from Ivan. This is the first time listening to this author.

Elementary

Any additional comments?

First, let me start with saying that bad boy/mafia/MC romance novels are right up my alley so this piqued my interest. Plus the cover had me drooling. The story left something to be desired though. It wasn't detailed enough for me and I got a little confused with the progression of the relationship between Katie and Ivan. She described him as acting like her boyfriend but those parts weren't written into the story. I also wish there had been more scenes from Ivan's perspective.
I'm not sure how I felt about the narrator's impression of a Russian accent but it was enough to get the job done. It was odd to me that she made Ivan sound so mature but made Katie sound like a bratty 16 year old. I didn't feel that Katie was a fully developed character but neither was Ivan. Not to mention, there is little to no physical description about either character.
I wish this book had more substance, it was descriptive enough and there was no development with the characters. Even the sex scenes weren't enough.
This is probably something that would be better if I had read it on my Kindle Unlimited.

Awfully sweet for mafia romance

What started as a tempting plot of mafia, bdsm romance where a hit an owns Katie for a year, ended up being more of a a series of explicit sex scenes with whispered Russian sweet nothings, interspersed with a little backstory and a bunch of weirdly domestic dates until the HEA. The first one night stand comes at Ch3, followed by sex, sex, and more sex. Once the ownership bargain is set, we jump to New Years (&sex), then Valentines (&sex), then her birthday (&sex). Yep, lots of sex... but while it’s explicit and rough, even the sex seemed rather dull.

With female narrators, I usually criticize their male voices. But here, I quite liked her rendition of Russian Ivan. Unfortunately, the story is 90% Katie and the narration for her was nasal and made her sound like a 16 year old brat, which really turned me off. This was okay as a free listen, but I don’t think I enjoyed it enough to listen to further books by this author.

Great story!

I enjoyed listening to Owned by the Hitman. It was a better listen then when I read it in print. The narrator spoke in Russian and had a Russian accent for Ivan. Which is so very helpful!

Strong heroine

This book was pretty good, not great. The heroine was a strong young woman put in a bad situation by her deceased father. The H treated the h wonderfully. The cover does not match the description of the H in the book. Conrad, another mafia man, was a piece of disgusting work. The ending was very nice. Not sure if I will listen to the next book in the series. Maybe these books are better read than listened to.

The narrator was OK, definitely not one of the best. This is not a book I would put in my "listen again" list.

Okay. A bit slow.

Not one of my favourite books.

Synopsis: Girl meets boy. They date. Some action happens at the end.

Narration is okay but the accent kept drifting in and out.
