Wonderful!

As you start listening to the book you think its quite predictable....but its not! It becomes something more. A real saga that you don't expect. I wont be surprised it they make turn it into a TV mini-series (if they haven't already). Definitely recommended and well worth 1 credit.

Brilliant but harrowing! Not for the faint hearted!

I picked this book on a whim and when I realised the main theme I nearly sent it back, but I stuck with it and so glad I did. The story was full of twists and turns and could almost be described as a modern fairytale for adults, full of warnings and foreboding. I really felt empathy for the main character who made me laugh and cry in equal measure, Brilliantly written, I would strongly recommend.

Fantastic and compelling a must read!

Gripped me to the end with a superb finish. An absolute must read with an essential message about the sky nature of domestic abuse.

Took a good story too far .

It was a great book for three quarters of it, then became far fetched. While well written it dragged in places and became a struggle to finish. The narrator did a good job though her natural Yorkshire accent shone through every character.

Totally unbelievable

Just not worth wasting 13hrs of you life on! Thought it was never going to end - the best thing was the relief when it finally did

Started off good....

But then got so repetitive and l cant believe the author used the word 'uncoupling' TWICE. The narrator had absolutely no emotion, at times the main character is fighting for her life but it sounds like she is simply reading out her horoscope.

It just wouldn't end.

Too silly for me. not vaguely believable.... and it just wouldn't end. Protagonist unlikeable and annoying. Sorry.

Wow

Can be a hard listen due to the detailed explanation of domestic violence and abuse however how this book has been written is beautiful. As a survivor myself I found myself at times reflecting at my own incredible journey and by the end felt the same self love and courage as Freya

Disturbing

I can’t say I enjoyed this book because I didn’t. It wasn’t easy to listen to. I knew the plot would be focused around domestic abuse, so maybe I should of expected it. But to anyone else who would prefer a warning, there’s a lot of very dark sexual abuse/assaults in this story.

Wow!!!!@

Having lived through an abusive relationship then stalking, I could identify. The way this was written like a memoir made the story more real for me.
Yes, it's fiction but so many stories like it. And I'm fully expecting some cruel reviewers who live blaming the victim for not leaving.
There's many reasons victims don't leave, in my case he would have killed me. After a year of planning I made it out only to be be stalked and threatened until I was able to have it stopped.
This story is much like this and I only tell my story in this review because I know how victims are blamed abd thought of as weak. Until you've been there..
Anyway, the book was wonderfully written, terrifying and written in a " warning" style.
I found it riveting. I could think of nothing else even for quite some time after I finished it.
Really excellent, 5 stars for being creative but realistic, entertaining but educational, and engrossing in the extreme. Highly recommended!

Not What I Expected

I thought I would like this book because of all the good reviews, but no one mentioned the harsh sex perpetuated on this woman and for that I stopped reading and returned. So a heads up for those who dont care for that.

gripping

loved it! as a long haul truck driver, I listen to at least 3 thrillers each week. this story kept me captivated from start to finish. this is the first review I've written, but this book deserved the praise. I'm hoping for a sequel!

Enjoyed every minute!

What a good ride. The author knows her stuff, she gives you a glimpse into the mind of a deranged man. Very realistic perception and tale, not for the faint of heart. The narration was excellent as well.

Fantastic Book

Over My Shoulder is one of the most action-packed mystery/thrillers I’ve read in a long time. The major character is so likable and the book so well written that the reader is deeply involved, rooting for her in her dangerous situations. The descriptions allow the reader to “see” the book like a movie. If you cannot tolerate some sexual violence features, skip it. Other mystery suspense readers will enjoy the plot.

Leave already!!

This is probably the most frustrating book I’ve ever listened to. Although I wanted to complete it to find out the end result, so many times I felt like I couldn’t take the character any longer — I don’t know if it’s good or bad that I wanted to shake her!! At any rate, I finally finished the book. Usually when I reach the end of a book that I have enjoyed, I hate that it’s ending. Not with this one. I was trying so hard just to get through it and was so thankful when it was finally over. Still trying to decide if I want to return it or not ... the narrator was excellent however.

Literally made me sick

Even though the author did an amazing job writing this book, I just couldn't get through it. Really upset me.

Just Too Much!

*spoiler alert***** Where is the revenge? This book is basically a long drawn out torture session with no satisfaction of payback. He gets away! What? And Freya was just unbelievably naive and plain old dumb.
