About this listen

Tully Larson has loved tropical storms since he was a kid and spent his summers with his dad in the wilds of Kakadu National Park. He's happiest outdoors, a rough and ready kind of guy who loves the power of Mother Nature and chasing the thrill of electrical storms every chance he gets.

Jeremiah Overton, a fulminologist from Melbourne, chases storms for a whole different reason. Lightning has shaped his entire life and he's driven to study it, to understand it, so heading to Kakadu in the middle of the storm season is a logical thing to do. After all, the Top End is the lightning capital of Australia.

Tully wasn't sure how a week at his remote bunker with an academic type would pan out. And Jeremiah didn't expect much from the storm-chasing cowboy who volunteered to take him.

But both men know all too well that when opposites attract, lightning strikes.

I always love NR Walker’s characters and this was no different for this story. Glen Lloyd did a fabulous job of the narration for both of them too. The only thing I was disappointed in was the ending - it felt too quick - I could’ve listened to a lot more of Jeremiah and his journey to the job he wanted and how the weather station would’ve worked out for him.

Loved the characters

90%of this story was great, but it seems like the author was desperate to rush to get to the end because things took an unbelievablely ridiculous turn once they arrived at the Darwin weather station. This silliness pulled me out of the story. The narration is lovely, but there's an error that was missed during proofing. Chapter 2 05:51... there's a second where another voice speaks over the narrator.

I really enjoy NR Walker characters and how she describes the Australian landscape.
The story was quite short, but I enjoyed the romance and the adventure. Good narration too.
