Summary

Bloomsbury presents Outraged by Ashley 'Dotty' Charles, read by Ashley 'Dotty' Charles.

A candid exploration of the state of outrage in our culture and how we can channel it back into the fights that matter, from presenter and DJ Ashley 'Dotty' Charles.

Ours is a society where many exploit the outrage of others in order to gain power - and we all too quickly take the bait. But by shouting about everything, we are in fact creating a world where outrage is without consequence.

There is still much to be outraged by in our final frontier, but in order to enact change and become more effective online, we must learn to channel our responses.

This is the essential guide to living through the age of outrage.

Love all things dotty

Whether it be a radio show, podcast or book, Dotty is able to express what so many of us think and feel. She does what she wants and says what she likes and I love it!!! Perfect read for these (rightly) outrageous times.

Insightful and eye opening

Really good research on such a broad topic. Loved that it was told in Dotty's own voice, as a huge fan of her radio shows, it was great to hear her talk about what she'd found, but to hear the sarcasm directly. The book has made me think twice about how I react to things that spike up in the media and think more about what I could do about real issues rather than just retweet and get angry about, for a little while.

Dotty is curious, funny and wise!

This book follows Dotty's pragmatic curiosity. It is amusing and thoughtful. Loved it! It is also great when a book is narrated by the author.

LOVE

This book hit so many home truths about the culture that exists of shouting into the void of social media for the sake of shouting into the void of social media. I found it incredibly articulate, hilarious and thought-provoking and will now be carefully considering my output online (and in real life). 5/5, even considering listening again.

Everyone should listen to this

I love Dotty having heard her brief appearances on Radio 1. She is an absolute breath of fresh air. Anyone who uses social media should listen to this and before they furiously type to show solidarity with the next trend of outrage, ask themselves why are they really getting so worked up?!

Great Easy Listen—Playful and Tongue-In-Cheek

Surprised that it was 😊 good! Humorous and timely. A break from of all the “racial educating” I’ve been torturing myself with....A monologue of racism without rage!!!! 😱 OMG, this is “right on”.... a great rant worth listening to. This is better than Woody Allen!! Love the British accent......Listen to the sample...you’ll be hooked!! One Audible book I have no regrets in using one of my precious Audible Credits!!!! Six-Stars! Laugh at yourself is the best therapy!
