Summary

Libraries are meant for studying - not sex.

College sophomore Ethan Follett never says what's on his mind and never wants to rock the boat. After a high school social life spent anonymous and alone, things are finally falling into place for him. He's found a group of friends just as studious as he and is on track for a promising legal career. Out in the open, things couldn't be better, but secretly Ethan yearns for some real excitement in his life.

He finds it in cocky frat boy Greg Sanderson, who challenges every rigid, preconceived notion Ethan lives by. Soon, their sparring relationship turns sexual, and these enemies-with-benefits "get their freak on" all over campus. Yet the more Ethan comes out of his shell, the more Greg retreats into his, working overtime to keep his ladies' man public persona intact. As the sex gets hotter, and they get closer to getting caught, one part of their arrangement can't stay hidden any longer: love.

Contains mature themes.

I’d listen to anything by this narrator. This story is a nice easy listen about awakening. Mild spice is nice.

Easy read

Innocent yet smoking hot! I listened to it almost in one go as I couldn’t ’put it down’!

Great story

I really liked the beginning, however halfway through it did become unnecessarily messy!

Invading someone's privacy, stalking them & trying to force them not only to come out of the closet when they're not ready as well as trying to force people into relationships is NOT something that should ever be done.

Although I can understand that it's difficult to stay away from someone you really like, you should still respect their autonomy.

When someone is giving you mixed signals or you're not happy with the status quo, there are only really 2 options, tell them how you feel & if what they're doing isn't something that you're ok to accept... move on!

No one can force someone else into a relationship, so that's where the book started going downhill for me & sadly it didn't improve, even when things were more "settled" between them.

Also that there wasn't any prep on their first time & allegedly, it was an amazing time 😒 highly doubtful! Also, it was kinda sold as lovemaking afterwards, but tbh... it really wasn't romantic at all.

All of their previous sexual encounters were a lot sweeter than that, but still none really felt like they were making love. It was purely sexual 🤷‍♀️

Not a bad book, but there were some toxic shenanigans that I just couldn't get behind, but others may enjoy!

good to start

Really fun and interesting listen, brilliantly narrated, the reader really brought the characters to life for me
Treat yourself and have a listen to chapter one or two … and btw it’s not the script plot you might guess in advance
A lovely listen overall

Much better than expected

Out in the Open was good, not my usual go to (new adult) but not something I avoid.

It was solid read/listen. Filled with some great characters and a fun story. Studious wanna be law student falls for a frisky frat bro.

I’m always happy to read anything by AJ Truman

The narration is about the only thing I can fault. The narrator (I’ve listened to no less than 4 of his audiobooks) is incapable of voicing women well. He makes then sound vapid and nasally.

Decent new adult
