Summary

It’s been a lot of years and another lifetime since Dax Trevino was a playboy detective for the Franklin Police Department. He’s been through hell and back, and now he just wants to be left alone so he can cuddle his otters.

When two of his babies are kidnapped in the middle of the night and Claws and Effect Pet Detectives are called to the rescue, quiet, broody Dax never expects to be tackled and handcuffed by the only woman he ever regretted being a douchebag to all those years ago.

Harley Blake has spent her entire life taking care of her accident-prone father with a fondness for dead animals and her 40-year-old brother who refuses to grow up. The last thing she needs is another complication in her life, and Detective Douchebag is at the top of the list.

Dax might not be a cop anymore, and he might have outgrown his one-and-done player status, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to get burned a second time and fall for his charms. The infuriating man already branded a mark on her heart years ago, making sure she’d never forget him. Besides, she has a case to solve for the guy, and this is just business.

But the sarcasm starts flying, there are a gaggle of adorable otters who need to be cuddled, a Bandit Von Trash Panda who just wants to play poker, pot brownies, and squirrels dressed for a wedding...at a funeral. Things are heating up - and not just from the small tree fire after the grenade went off - and this man is suddenly simplifying her life instead of making it worse.

Harley knows she won’t escape this time without being "otterly" scorched.

Hilarious!!

This was totally hilarious! I have never laughed that hard at such stupidity. Tara, has a way of turning real stupidity into good humor worth laughing at. Big fan of Tara Sivec, I love listening or reading one of her books and you can always depend on CJ Bloom to deliver an excellent performance, James Cavenaugh, was good as well. All in all it was a great story and all the other characters were great also, another Great One Tara, I loved it!! ❤❤❤

Tara does it again!! ❤️

Tara never fails to make me laugh and bring in 2 of my favorite narrators. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!! I love the cross over of characters Dax was mentioned in Just My Type briefly and also in the Burned and Branded books. I thought sure his story would be #3 to the trilogy of Burned and Branded but I loved that she took the funny path for him. Tara is just an awesome writer, love her so much. She brings the best out of James❤️ I specifically look for books he narrates and to have Tara be the writer just makes that sexy voice even better.

Hilarious, But Not Enough Grovel

I really liked almost all of the story, until it’s revealed who is responsible for taking the otters; they really should have had a lot more groveling to do. And honestly Dax should have too.

otterly hilarious

I'm not sure how Tara Sivec comes up with such bizarre premises but they keep getting better and better. If you enjoy laughing out loud, having to snort laugh as quietly as possible in public, and finding books that you can re-listen to for a quick mood adjustment then BUY this book! p.s. The narrators are amazing too!
