About this listen

The Argyle family is far from pleased to discover one of its number has been post-humously pardoned for murder – if Jacko Argyle didn’t kill his mother, who did? The front door of the family home was locked…

According to the courts, Jacko Argyle bludgeoned his mother to death with a poker. The sentence was life imprisonment

But when Dr Arthur Calgary turns up a year later with the proof that confirms Jacko’s innocence, he is too late – Jacko died behind bars from a bout of pneumonia.

Worse still, the doctor’s revelations re-open old wounds in the family, increasing the likelihood that the real murderer will strike again…

I love Agatha Christie but found this one somewhat lacking compared to her usual brilliance. There was too much repetition of going through each character and considering who might’ve done it and who had a motive and who loved and hated the victim. My head was spinning, but the story was not going anywhere but in circles. The plot itself is okay it’s just the way it’s been written.

Not her best

This was ok but no more than that... it seemed to drift aimlessly for long periods .. not one I would listen to again.. good performances from the cast just about saved it.

Ok but ...

Had me guessing until the end. A brilliant sort of reverse murder mystery and a great twist on an established theme!

Perfect escapism

If you’re an Agatha Christie and haven’t read this one- would highly recommend. It will keep you gripped and trying to solve whodunnit!

Brilliant

It got a bit confusing who was speaking sometimes as the voice wasn’t always different enough
