About this listen

After losing her job, Sian goes to visit her brother on the island where he works, only to discover his hut in ruins and him nowhere to be found. Alone on a strange island, she takes the only path open to her - disguise herself as a man (obviously).

It is whilst she is in this disguise that she catches the eye of the lovely Olivia, and the unwanted attention of her other suitors. All the Shakespearean hijinks set in the modern world, with all the annoying bits fixed. Or, what you will.

I enjoyed this retelling. I was intrigued by the twist and how it would be handled. There were some nice updating touches and I enjoyed many of the new lines. They were original, if not the original lines. The narration is okay. Some accents wander and some hesitations occur but it is always easy to keep track of different characters speaking.

What you will get is an enjoyable interlude.
