Summary

Widespread poverty and malnutrition, an alarming refugee crisis, social unrest, and economic polarization have become our lived reality as the top one percent of the world’s seven-billion-plus population pushes the planet - and all its people - to the social and ecological brink.

In Oneness vs. the 1%, Vandana Shiva takes on the billionaires club of Gates, Buffet, and Zuckerberg, as well as other modern empires whose blindness to the rights of people and to the destructive impact of their construct of linear progress have wrought havoc across the world. Their single-minded pursuit of profit has undemocratically enforced uniformity and monocultures, division and separation, monopolies and external control - over finance, food, energy, information, health care, and even relationships.

Basing her analysis on explosive, little-known facts, Shiva exposes the one percent’s model of philanthrocapitalism, which is about deploying unaccountable money to bypass democratic structures, derail diversity, and impose totalitarian ideas based on one science, one agriculture, and one history. She calls for the “resurgence of real knowledge, real intelligence, real wealth, real work, real well-being”, so that people can reclaim their right to: live free. Think free. Breathe free. Eat free.

Brilliant - everyone should read this..

Very well written and justifies the vision about BMGF - Bill Melinda Gates Foundation and their global agenda...whats more worrying is In Epilogues mentions about Patent WO 060606 - Bill Gates....people need to look this up....this was done during the Covid 19 pandemic....people need to read this book...

Awesome book, shame about the narrator.

Amazing book, by an amazing woman! I just wish she had narrated the audio book herself rather than the monotone robot that did take the edge off this incredible book.

Wow - so well researched

One of the scariest audiobooks I've listened to. If you have doubts about the pandemic narrative and the motivations of the 1% the you must read this book. Shiva digs deep into the corporatist, totalitarian intentions of the 'elites' and their money moves. Well read by the narrator too.

Very relevant

A little repetitive early on but worth persevering because its an important look at what has been happening in the world which then looks into what is currently happening, regarding Bill Gates imperialism and the pandemic opportunism which leads only to dystopia.

Brilliant book

This is the best book I’ve read in years. Vanda Shiva makes such a compelling evidence-based case for how the technological and reductionist model of science is really just a tool of colonization and the elite to further erase indigenous communities and indigenous wisdom while growing the wealth of the top 1% and creating the biggest inequality gap we have ever seen.

Great perspective

Amazing dive into the story behind the food we eat and the systems that exist to distance us from our roots.
The only topic I would have enjoyed exploring more was others beyond Bill Gates who have become powerful through wealth, creating reach far outside their expertise.

Eye opening

I understood some of the deep corruption that we currently live with in our society already. But this book lays out the layers of questionable relationships and double dealing happening in the billionaire class. Highly recommend if you’ve ever questioned what the .1% is doing

Not worth neither the time nor the money

After listening to the audiobook, the takeaway was that Vandana Shiva is a very angry individual. She has an irresponsible and negative attitude against Bill Gates and yet she never wrote a word against Steve Jobs or Apple for the same accusations she planted in Hates and his foundation.
Throughout the audiobook, the author forgot or neglected that for anyone reading or listening to her book, the larger group ate not familiar with Indian names or cultural traditions. Ms. Shiva is neither a chemist nor a biologist; instead she is described as Indian environmental activist, food sovereignty advocate, Eco-feminist and anti-globalization author. Regarding her occupation, she described herself as
Philosopher, environmentalist, author, professional speaker and social activist. Moreover, this book -in my view- should be targeted to Indochina or surrounding areas; again, most people in western countries are not familiar with the inner workings or Indian names or traditions of India.
Lastly, if Ms. Shiva is so against the likes of Amazon, Microsoft, et cetera, why she or her publisher have chosen to distribute her book through Audible? Audible is an Amazon company.
