Summary

Widespread poverty and malnutrition, an alarming refugee crisis, social unrest, and economic polarization have become our lived reality as the top one percent of the world’s seven-billion-plus population pushes the planet - and all its people - to the social and ecological brink.

In Oneness vs. the 1%, Vandana Shiva takes on the billionaires club of Gates, Buffet, and Zuckerberg, as well as other modern empires whose blindness to the rights of people and to the destructive impact of their construct of linear progress have wrought havoc across the world. Their single-minded pursuit of profit has undemocratically enforced uniformity and monocultures, division and separation, monopolies and external control - over finance, food, energy, information, health care, and even relationships.

Basing her analysis on explosive, little-known facts, Shiva exposes the one percent’s model of philanthrocapitalism, which is about deploying unaccountable money to bypass democratic structures, derail diversity, and impose totalitarian ideas based on one science, one agriculture, and one history. She calls for the “resurgence of real knowledge, real intelligence, real wealth, real work, real well-being”, so that people can reclaim their right to: live free. Think free. Breathe free. Eat free.

Very relevant

A little repetitive early on but worth persevering because its an important look at what has been happening in the world which then looks into what is currently happening, regarding Bill Gates imperialism and the pandemic opportunism which leads only to dystopia.

Simply Powerful

Powerful narration of massive changes in our lives and our environment without our consent and conscious involvement.

it's scary what the likes of Bill Gates

it's absolutely ahmbhorrent to read about the demise if the natural world to make way for financial benefit.

what's more beneficial is to learn that Bill Gates is no philanthropist but a psychopath bell bent on changing the way in which people live and how they're inoculated against man made virus to control populations. if somebody doesn't kill Bill like Kennedy then this nonsense will carry on that won't be me but that psychopath needs dropping

the 99% needs to make a stand, we have powers by numbers to stop this, it's just don't to take a while to raise an army to march on the white House

One of the most important books I have ever read

If climate change, industrial agriculture and the collapse of democratic processes are to be stopped, we must all wake up and take action. Verdana Shiva explains why and suggests a way forward based on common sense and successes already achieved in India. "I said, somebody should do something about that! And then I realised I am somebody." Lily Tomlin
