Unabridged PLEASE!!!!!!!
I first read One For The Money, begrudgingly, as a result of a friend borrowing it from the library for me having recommended that I read it. I say begrudgingly because I'm not a great fan of american literature but I was very soon hooked and manically laughing out loud at random moments, to the growing irritation of my husband. Since then I have read the books many times without tiring of them and loved the opportunity to listen to this great book in the car on my way to work (Puts you in great humour for the day!!!). However, good as this abridged version is (I think that Lori Petty has the perfect voice for Stephanie Plum) it would be better in it's entirety - Please, please, please, Simon & Schuster ask Lori back in to read us the whole BOOK! However in the meantime for those keen to meet Stephanie Plum there are two versions of the abridged books up to Three which allow us the choice of Lori Petty or Lorelei King as narrator and for my money Lori Petty slightly has the edge.

A treat for those who don't yet know Ms Plum
These books are an utter delight - they are so much fun. Just be aware that you might become a tad antisocial as there are 12 books (so far) in the series and once you start...I so envy those who've yet to dicover the glorious Stephanie Plum!

Dark humour, fun...
A fun read, loved the tongue in cheek whacky humour of Stephanie Plum, and her devil-may-care cavalier attitude, no wringing of hands or inner angst here this girl is confidant with a can do attitude, she gets knocked down, she stands right back up again even if she is out of her depth, haven't liked a female character like this for a long time.. can't believe I have missed this author for so long..

Introducing Stephanie Plum
This is a really fun book to listen to. I wish there was an unabridged version. I also wish they would reissue this with a different reader. Lorelei King who does many of the later books is much better.

Abridged......Left out so much!
This was recommended to me by my daughter who has the books. She was excited for me to get them on audio as we were taking a little trip. I could only find this in abridged version. Although it was rather enjoyable, she said so much was left out that was character development, she didn't even enjoy it. If I had not known a little about the book prior, this would have been the one and only "number" book I would have read. I plan to actually READ the first three or four books before I purchase any more of the abridged versions. I don't recommend the abridged versions AT ALL. Save your credits until Audible comes out with the Unabridged Version of these titles.

Liked the book, not the reader.
This series of books is great fun. This one starts it all off, but others are better as the characters develop and become more multi-dimensionsal. Still, this one is a good read. I could not stomach the narrator, though. Her voice was so annoying, and didn't sound at all the way I imagined Stephanie! I kept trying, thinking I would get used to it, but it just kept irritating me. I finally gave up and bought the paperback! Later books with Lorelei King as the narrator are MUCH better.

I had first bought the book Hard Eight, that is what began my love affair with the whole Evanovich series. I had bought other books from the series but never had time to read them, so I thought I would try listening to them and it was an absolute joy. I hope to see more from the series become available soon! :)
Once you read or hear one of Stephaine's tales you will fall in love with her and her friends and family.

One For the Money
Listening to Stephaine as a Bounty Hunter, and how she became one, was great. Hard Eight was the first of Evanovich I had heard. It was funny and I wanted more. Then I found that there was a whole series about Stephaine Plum. Her family is one of the funneist parts of the story. I love her Grandmother. I hope Evanovich will continue with the Plum series. So far I have listen 1-6 and the 8th one. And hope to hear the 7th. This series is My favorit, and keeps me wanting more.

Love the series!
This is the first time I have read this author and have fallen in love with the Stephanie Plum series. I downloaded all 13 books and listened to them all within a week. I couldn’t wait to hear what adventures (and mishaps!) that Stephanie, Joe, Ranger, Lula and the rest of the gang would get into. I’ve read some of the previous reviews. I agree with some and disagree with others. I disagree that it gets old and complacent that Stephanie finds herself in the same situations in every book. It appears to me that Stephanie’s character is just one of those people that trouble and mayhem seem to find. I do agree that narrator Lori Petty is the voice of Stephanie. Narrator Debi Mazar’s accent is a bit heavy for audio books and then after all this Lorilei King takes over as narrator for the rest of the series. While Ms. King’s character voices are awesome (she has such a range!) her Stephanie voice has no Jersey accent at all and sound just a little too “blue blood”. Otherwise Ms. King is a joy to listen to. You will fall in love with Ranger and Joe! Both are too hot to handle……no wonder Stephanie can’t choose between the two!
Don’t let the narrator changes deter you from listening to this funny charming, and at times mysterious series. You won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for something light hearted to listen to.
