About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Six shots. Five dead.

A heartland city thrown into terror. But within hours the cops have it solved. A slam-dunk case. Apart from one thing. The accused gunman refuses to talk except for a single phrase:

Get Jack Reacher for me.

Reacher lives off the grid. He's not looking for trouble. But sometimes trouble looks for him. What could connect the noble Reacher to this psychopathic killer?

_________

Although the Jack Reacher can be read in any order, One Shot is the 9th in the series.

Critic reviews

Jack Reacher is irresistible
Hot, indomitable... knockout
The thing about Lee Child's books is that you can't put the damn things down
Child's strengths are fast-moving dialogue and gripping action sequences ... The excitement lasts from the first to the final page
The Jack Reacher series of thrillers...are all hugely exciting, and knowledgeable about weapons and technology. They exude a powerful sense of right and wrong ... We've seen him as a right of wrongs and always as God's gift to women
Lee Child is often mistaken for a US writer, so skilfully and enthusiastically has he embraced the idiom of the American thriller ... One of the genre's finest practitioners
Reacher sees justice done while kicking commendable amounts of ass ... Intricate plotting makes for an engrossing read
First-rate thriller, with the imperturbable Reacher meting out his brand of justice to the villains

I had some difficulty believing the female voices! Otherwise a good listen, but far too short. I wanted more!

The story, it always does from Lee Childs

Why does the narrator sound like Reacher doing an impression of Batman! Really off putting. Not sure ill carry in with the series

Reachers voice

The story was solid, but short, only four hours. The narration was OK, but he made reacher sound like Batman for no good reason.

Mediocre

Loved every bit better than the movie. Go Reacher go. Couldn't stop listening till the end.

Another Classic from Lee Child

Having watched the Jack Reacher film sometime ago, this is the story that inspired the film. This has a different version of some events and a different ending. Short but great.

Different to the film good novella
