Summary

Escape to the summer and feel the warmth of Sunday Times best seller Paige Toon's storytelling.

A Dorset summer, a chance meeting, and Joe and Alice, both 18, fall into step as if they have known each other forever. But their idyll is shattered as quickly as it began. Joe leaves without warning; Alice heads off to Cambridge University and slowly picks up the pieces of her broken heart.

Years later, when she catches the attention of gorgeous, gifted, rich boy Lukas, Alice is carried along by his charm and swept up in his ambitious plans for a future together.

Until news of Joe reaches her once more, but he's out of reach in a way that Alice could never have imagined. Life has moved on; the divide between them is now so great. Surely it is far too late to relive those perfect summer days of long ago?

One Perfect Summer was selected for the Zoella Book Club, and Paige Toon's novels have been published across the world.

No plot

Wanted to like this book but it just made me more annoyed as I got deeper in. Things happened that felt a bit pointless at the time but I kept thinking “maybe it will be relevant later” and then it was just never mentioned again? And then the book just suddenly ends? Was really disappointed.

long and a bit dull compared to the other books

takes forever to get anywhere and then speeds through at the end when finally the story picks up. least favourite of all the Paige toon books

Rushed ending

A great read offering bit of escapism! I was just a bit dissapointed in the rushed ending..

Just brilliant

This is my second Paige Toon book, but first by this narrator and she is brilliant. I could listen to her voice all day. The story was captivating and moving and I just didn’t want it to end.
An excellent book made even better by such good narration. I can’t recommend it highly enough and I’ve already ordered another book by the same author and narrator. 5*!

Enjoyable but main character poor decision maker

I can't belive how abrupt the ending was! I was so I engolfed in the story and the writing was great but I am upset at the ending. I also think the story does not teach great morals nd exemplifies poor qualities. Main character tbh is abit pathetic and not facing her reality and is a poor decision maker. This ruined the story for me abit. And the ending in my opinion was very poor - could have expanded more. It had alot of potential and was a page turner though

It just ended, out of no where!

I felt this story dragged on for quite a while, with the lead character making a series of poor/ unrealistic choices. I often questioned myself "put myself in her shoes" and I really struggled.
Then, when it started to gather pace and get exciting, it announced "Epilogue". I felt cheated; I felt I had invested my time in the characters and it just ended.
Narrator was superb as usual and portrayed the characters well. I just felt that Toon has done so much better in her other novels.

Confusing ending

Over all I enjoyed this book but felt let down by the ending. It didn’t feel like a proper conclusion. Maybe it is left for the reader or listener to decide for themselves exactly how it ended?
