About this listen

Killers don't play by the rules…

After nearly dying in the line of duty, the FBI's top criminal profiler, Genevieve Callow, contemplates a quieter life while struggling with survivor's guilt. She's reminded every day that while she was fighting for her life, another predator was stalking the night in her hometown—the Icebox Killer.

She knows now that home isn't safe. But she's haunted, tired, and barely recovered. There are other agents on the killer's tail. They should be able to catch him. Or can it only be her?

Now, in one brazen act, the killer has called out to her by name, taunting her―a game of cat and mouse. Callow has a choice: Run and hide or do what she does best and catch a maniac before he strikes again. Even if facing him means the Icebox Killer claims one more victim…

Just too much back story and not enough direct plot.
Certain bits were over-obvious, with some 'oh for goodness sake' moments and the ending was rather simplistic.

I kept listening, but not surely why.....I nearly gave up a couple times.

The storyline was quite good with mystery and action. I felt something was missing as it didn't really hold my attention in places. Narrator did an awesome job.

Quite good.

this book for me was off somehow I kept getting the feeling that I had missed a book and that I consequently didn't have the full story, the references to the red mud killer were I'm sure meant to tell us something about her past but didn't as it was as if we were supposed to know what happened which is why I felt like I'd skipped a book. also for a senior agent she was like a damsel in distress every move and thought was punctuated with drama and complete self doubt which was so annoying I felt like she needed to grow a back bone! a lot of the story felt badly edited. I could not warm to any of the characters. the whole thing centered around her complete lack of confidence and not enough around the actual FBI procedure and catching a serial killer who Incidentally I got early on. I did listen to the end and it didn't get any better her whining about poor me got on my nerves. narrator was excellent she did her best with what she had to work with.
there is a book two but I won't be listening....sorry!

I felt like I was missing something!

Not alot happens. Main character drones on in self pity and regret. Lacks action and grit.

okay; not great
