Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of One Day in December by Josie Silver, read by Eleanor Tomlinson and Charlie Anson.

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist. After all, life isn't a scene from the movies, is it?

But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away.

Laurie thinks she'll never see the boy from the bus again. But at their Christmas party a year later, her best friend Sarah introduces her to the new love of her life. Who is, of course, the boy from the bus.

Determined to let him go, Laurie gets on with her life. But what if fate has other plans?

Following Laurie, Sarah and Jack through 10 years of love, heartbreak and friendship, One Day in December is a joyous, heart-warming and immensely moving love story that you'll want to escape into forever.

Wow

I loved this book and could hardly wait for my next chance to listen to more. I'm kind of disappointed that it has come to an end. Will look out for more books like this from Josie Silver

Absolutely brilliant!

I spent the weekend decorating and listening to this and couldn’t wait to catch a moment to hear more. Packed full of twists and turns, ups and downs and lovely feel good ending. I’m gutted I’ve finished it now!

The downside of finishing a really good and long book is the sense of bereavement one feels when you have finished the story.

Yes, of course a book with a really wonderful ending is that one is more likely to score it higher than it deserves. In the case of 'One Day in December' I knew the score that the Author and Readers would earn well before the end.

I listened to most of the book on 'Audible' but on the occasions that I switched to 'Kindle' read I missed the so much extra that the Readers gave to the narrative.

The story held me throughout, so much so that I listened more than I read as I speed read and this would have negated so much of the Authors effort in putting together such an uplifting book. Yes at times I thought that there was a might to much sob and introspection but that was my problem. Early on I felt that I was given a good understanding of Laurie, Sarah, and Jack to such an extent that I sometimes talked to them and wished to give encouragement as I knew more about what was going on than they did.

Thank you Josie Silver.

Adored it, can’t wait for her next title

A gorgeous listen, loved the two main characters and beautiful story. Listened to it in the car with my wife, had both of us shouting at the stereo at times and smiling for the rest. Some lovely moments and great ending. Even had us listening to it in the evenings with a glass of wine and open fire. Just perfect.

Really poor story made worse by terrible winey sounding narrator

It could have been bearable to listen to if the narrator didn’t sound so winey. Total waste of time.
