Summary
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of One Day in December by Josie Silver, read by Eleanor Tomlinson and Charlie Anson.
Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist. After all, life isn't a scene from the movies, is it?
But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away.
Laurie thinks she'll never see the boy from the bus again. But at their Christmas party a year later, her best friend Sarah introduces her to the new love of her life. Who is, of course, the boy from the bus.
Determined to let him go, Laurie gets on with her life. But what if fate has other plans?
Following Laurie, Sarah and Jack through 10 years of love, heartbreak and friendship, One Day in December is a joyous, heart-warming and immensely moving love story that you'll want to escape into forever.

Definitely not for your average Hell’s Angel reader
Extremely girly girly, enough to make you wince. Well written story though & ( being a girl) I did shed a tear. Very well narrated indeed. The story did keep me reading to the end. Very Hugh Grant-ish type scenario so theme not original. But the writing style was insightful with some lovely metaphors.

not too bad but....
This book had some good believable parts and I think it got marginally better towards the end which kept me listening. However I found the two main female characters rather annoying and somewhat dull. as time went on no one seemed to grow up really and there seemed to be little development of characters apart from angst ridden unrequited love. It was fairly predictable as a storyline. I dont think i can recommend it for others though unless you want to listen to a book that does not challenge you. This is good listening in the car after a hard day of work when not too much concentration is required. I do fid the story somewhat forgettable as a love story. there are better listens out there....

Unexpectedly loved it
My first concern (being a BBC Poldark fan) was that I’d find it hard to listen to Eleanor Tomlinson narrate Laurie’s part and not think of Demelza all the time. I needn’t have worried as her voice didn’t have any Cornish dialect and was perfect for the lovely Laurie. Both narrators read beautifully.
The plot was predictable but that didn’t detract from the story and I looked forward to long dog walks, piles of ironing or drives to immerse myself. I smiled and, at the conclusion, cried!

Epic love story
I bought this book on an audible daily deal but I also had a netgalley copy which I had yet to read.
I LOVED this book! I was so mad at myself for taking so long to read it! this is the second book recently that I have read that has the wrong timing/ missed opportunity trope. It's something I really like. I like that true love will win in the end. I know I am an old romantic but I just love it.
I really liked all three of the main characters although at times they each irritated me in their own ways. I thought they could all be selfish at times and not take into consideration other peoples feelings and difficulties. These characters were very realistic. I could really understand each of their dilemmas and feelings. Josie did an excellent job of making sure I understood all three of them.
The narration was excellent too. I loved that there was one for Jack and one for Laurie. Having different narrators really helps when a book has different POV. One thing that I would have really liked was a POV chapter from Sarah. I think she is as integral to this story as Jack and Laurie and hearing what was going on in her head at points would have been really insightful.
This book is a story about love and heartbreak, about friendship and family. It's one of those epic love stories that will survive the ages. I can't wait to read more from Josie.

lovely book
I was slightly worried when I discovered the characters were in their twenties - I thought I might not relate with the style of writing. I was wrong.... and as it's about love, most people will relate regardless of age. The main characters were great and the narrators brought their stories to life. I don't normally read love stories but I'm very glad I did.

Tomlinson narration feels like real life
This book is so romantically captivating. Not too sappy, the perfect amount of love and suspense. Eleanor Tomlinson’s reading is exquisite and absolutely captures every emotion being portrayed in this book so that you can most imagine the story folding out in front of you! Such a delight! Maybe the best
This just might be the best romance novel I have listened to. The characters are realistic and fun. The narrators are brilliant. Just loved it. The ending might be a little cringe, but after such a lovely slow burn I didn’t mind it.
