About this listen

Driving home after a day in the countryside with his wife, Katy, and their two kids, doting father Adam Parr gets cut up by a speeding silver car, nearly causing him to crash. Shocked and upset that his kids could have been killed, he pulls over. That’s when he sees a struggling woman in the back seat of the silver car, her eyes pleading for help, and he knows his family are in terrible danger.

In the blink of an eye, the Parrs' ordinary lives are plunged into an unimaginable nightmare. With nowhere to run, and the whole family at risk, does Adam have what it takes to lead his loved ones to safety?

A gripping and addictive thriller with plenty of twists. If you love Harlan Coben, James Patterson or Robert Dugoni, you’ll be completely hooked.

This book literally kept me up all night, I had to carry on listening to find out what happened, it's slow, as Tom's books usually are, this kind of literature generally is, but it perks up considerably in the last quarter and that was what kept me up all night.

I started out hating Adam, the main male character, he seemed to be the typical annoying middle aged husband, who bemoans his lot whilst doing little to aid himself or his family BUT he turns around and whilst not exactly painting himself in glory, he does a passable job of not being the worst husband in history (OK, he does a great job right at the end) Katy also does a great job with saving her kids, albeit right at the end, the kids are great throughout the book.

This book is a masterclass in manipulation, I loved it and Tim Bruce is a fantastic narrator of this book, as he is of many other titles I've listend to.

If you like Tom Bale then give this a try, if you like Tim Bruce then give this a try. It really is a sound story with a solid performance by a great narrator. I bought and paid for my own copy of this book, and this review is 100% voluntary and 100% my own opinion.

I usually like Tom Bale books, but this one was nowhere as near as some I have listened to.
Also spoilt by the narrator I think.

WASTE OF TIME

I will be honest, I almost gave up on this when it appeared to be a Partridge-family-meets Colditz beginning - but no, the twists and turns kept me going - I was ready to kill the Dad for his stupidity several times, but this level of involvement only indicates how the story had pulled me in. Excellently read too!
