About this listen

She thought she'd got away with it. She was wrong.
Hannah Godley is an agony aunt on a London radio show Queen of Hearts. She's warm and empathetic; a good listener. Her catchphrase is: Be kind, always. But when a stranger phones in to tell a tragic story about her brother who killed himself after he was the victim of a terrible prank by two people, Hannah goes cold. Because she remembers Diane's brother well. In fact, all these years later, he still haunts her dreams. All because of that one bad thing she did when she was young...

Is Diane just a sad, lonely woman looking for a friend, or does she know what Hannah did, and is looking for revenge? Because as Diane insinuates herself into her life and family, Hannah is going to discover that you can never truly escape that One Bad Thing you did – sooner or later, you're going to have to pay the price...

Loved this book from start to finish, loved the build up which brought the book to ever her at the end

My type of book

I very much enjoyed this book throughout until I got to the final few chapters... Oh no! Get ready to witness a very good story crumbling all to pieces. Then, there's no turning back. All the mistery and good drama that has been building up, at the end becomes just a ludicrous, nonsensical fantasy story.. No more realism, characters become caricatures. Those same characters that were quite believable during almost the entire book, at the most climatic point (literally last 5 or 6 chapters), they just start acting and talking silly garbage. No real people act like that! No, no, no! Really let down by those final chapters and ending..

Captivating (shame about the final chapters)

Disliked being able to know what was going to happen at the beginning. Very predictable not much depth

This book sounded like it would be unputdownable - it wasn’t really. It was ok and I wanted to know how it all panned out but I don’t think I would read/listen to this author again.

I thought the protagonist was a bit silly. Spent the whole books thinking “really????l” in relation to her decisions. I guessed who the “baddies” were early on - which is always disappointing. All a bit dramatic.

May have enjoyed it more if I had read as opposed to listened to it. Narrator wasn’t bad, but again a bit overly dramatic.

Didn’t really live up to promise
