Story
Devon Douglas can’t believe it when she comes face-to-face with Sadie again. They were inseparable in high school until Devon did something she ruined their friendship on a lovestruck whim. Sadie is as dazzling as Devon remembers—and she can still hold her own surfing the wild waves of Clearwater Bay. Devon’s first priority is her five-year-old son, but getting to know Sadie all over again is taking up more and more of her headspace. Sadie is inexplicably drawn to Devon. It could be nostalgia. Or remnants of their old friendship flaring. But what if it’s more than that?

True love at otter bay
I thought this book sounded awesome a princess falling in love with a cafe owner in the UK.
It was a great book and I was rooting for them to get together, princess Olivia and Rosie had great chemistry.
I will say I was disappointed with the ending as I really wanted it to have a royal wedding as that’s what this whole book was about, so I feel really let down. You could have done a 10 minute epilogue of the wedding, as every fairytale ends with a wedding.
The narrator did a fantastic job at the voices and you could clearly tell the characters apart especially the two lead females.
This book is from Olivia and Rosie point of view.

Not half bad
The book suffers a little from ‘why use one word when 15 or 16 will do.’
Aside from that it’s an entertaining listen, and the narrator is largely inoffensive. Enjoyable.

Good story made confusing by narration
A nice and sweet story, romantic and a bit unrealistic, but that what makes it a nice book :-). BUT very confusing at times as the narrator keeps almost exactly the same rhythm and voice for ALL of the characters - at times I had to listen to certain parts 3 times in order to understand who said what. I would have loved it and rated it 5 starts if the narrator was Angela Dawn for example, this narrator has ONLY the British accent going for her.

A fun romance in desperate need of some whimsy
While this story is overall pretty fun, it suffers from what I deemed, 'a lack of whimsy'
the story is intentionally fairytale-esque yet it constantly tries to be realistic, with down to earth dialogue and rational characters.
while that is an interesting way to write a love story, it loses some element of 'fun' when it tried to dip it's toes into more fluffy aspects of it's romance.
a bit more of an appeal to emotion rather than logic could have bumped this story from a 3 star to a four star.
on a more positive note I loved the LGBT representation. The awkwardness was believable and I loved how the two leads danced around each other trying to probe for information on the others sexuality. that was funny and believable.
I also liked how the femenine gaze, a lot of the desire coming from them touching each other's biceps and sharing food.
overall a very sweet story that could have used 30% more whimsy.

Very Good, but wanted more...
With 2 authors like Clare Lydon and Harper Bliss I expected soo much. they've written some amazing books (especially Bliss' "French Kissing" series!!!). Once Upon a Princess was still a very good listen...I just wasn't as happy with it as I had hoped. maybe I'm getting tired of the princess thing? also, the narration was great, but I wished Olivia's voice was a bit sexier...
