Story
Hunter Westing is not who I’m supposed to end up with. The guy might look like a walking wet dream, but he’s got the intelligence of a doorknob and the emotional range of a toaster. Actually, that might be an insult to toasters - at least they’re not usually homophobic. If life were fair, I wouldn’t have to spend more than 20 minutes in Hunter’s company.

Story
They say it’s a bad idea to fall for your best friend. But since when do I say no to bad ideas? It’s not like I wanted to fall in love with Ben. But I didn’t really have a choice. Not only is he hot, he’s sweet, funny, and insanely talented. We’d both been struggling musicians for years, but even after Ben got signed by a major label, he still wanted to be friends with a nobody like me. Honestly, if he didn’t want me falling for him, he should have been less goddamn perfect. Well, except for the part where he’s straight. Did I forget to mention that?

Story
I left my family and tiny Texas hometown 15 years ago to escape small-town gossips and to give my mom and sister the chance at a better life. But when a phone call from an attorney back home informs me that my sister passed away, leaving me custody of her newborn baby, I'm shocked out of the steady life I've built for myself running a tattoo shop in San Francisco. The thing is: I don't do babies. And I don't do small towns. Or commitment. And I especially don't do family.

Story
Oz Gallagher does not do relationships well. Bored and jobless after another disastrous hook up, he decides to leave London for a temporary job in the wilds of Cornwall. Surely managing a stately home on a country estate will be easier than navigating the detritus of his relationships at home. Six months there will alleviate a bit of his wanderlust and then he can come back to London as footloose and fancy free as the day he left it. However, when he gets there, he finds a house in danger of crumbling to the ground and a man who is completely unlike anyone he’s ever met.

Great story 5/5
- By A. Listener on 19-01-20
Summary
Me, my ex, and a five star hotel room. What could go wrong?
Oliver: It took seven years until I was sure I was over my high school boyfriend, Luke - and just one night to realize how wrong I was.
Not even one night, really. It was honestly more like five minutes of conversation at our high school reunion that made it clear I'd never gotten over him in the first place. And if the conversation by itself wasn't enough, the fact that I invited him back to my hotel room, dragged him into bed, and then had a panic attack in the middle of the, uh, festivities took care of any lingering doubts.
And that would have been fine, honestly. Completely humiliating, sure, but fine - if only I weren’t stuck at home, helping my father with a health crisis and dodging Luke’s calls - and my feelings about them. Luke’s a player. He always has been. I know better than to get involved with him again. So how the hell do I get my heart to listen?
Luke: Oliver Luna. The guy’s haunted me since high school. Oliver’s the first person I ever fell in love with - and the last. He’s the guy who showed me what I was made of - and it turns out, what I’m made of isn’t pretty. I won’t risk hurting anyone else the way that I hurt him. And I've never forgiven myself.
I guess that’s why I decided to go to my high school reunion. I figured maybe, if I apologized, I’d be able to let Oliver go. That’s how it works, right? You say you’re sorry and you get to move on.
Only first, Oliver tells me he's already moved on, which somehow just makes me feel worse, even though it's what I'm supposed to want. And then, just when I think I’ll never see Oliver again, he lets his guard down, and all I want to do is pull him into my arms and make his pain go away. Who even am I at this point?
I have no idea how to fix all the damage I've caused. All I know is this: I’ll die before I let Oliver walk out of my life again.

Love this series!
I absolutely love this series! Oliver and Luke have a second chance at their HEA, but it takes them a while to figure it out. I like the flashbacks in this book. The back story is hugely important, and I like having little snippets throughout the book. Of course I love the secondary characters that carry through the series.

A Charming Second Chance Romance
Spencer Spears has a unique ability to create fascinating, complicated characters. He does so beautifully once again in ‘Oliver Ever After’. In this audiobook his characters are vividly brought to life through Michael Fell’s spot-on narration. The story is told back and forth over two periods of time and often from two points of view. There is so much miscommunication and so much self doubt of the part of each of the main characters, that you begin to wonder if things will ever work out. The main characters are Luke, a hedge fund manager stuck in a job at that he hates, and Oliver, a high school classmate of Luke’s. In high school, Luke was a serious jock and Oliver was a classic nerd. But it’s Oliver who made it big, selling not just one but two of his tech start-ups for millions of dollars. One part of the story tells of a high school experience between Oliver and Luke that ended badly. The second point in time is seven years later when both men are back at their old high school for a class reunion. Luke wants to apologize to Oliver for what happened seven years earlier. He finds Oliver in the library, the place that meant something special to both of them. Oliver pretends that he was only in the library trying to get a cell phone signal. Surprisingly, though, Oliver asks Luke back to his hotel room and their relationship picks up from there. It took a long time for the two to finally realize what was really important to them. The epilogue spells it out perfectly.

This Series Is Amazing!
I love Spencer Spears' 8 Million Hearts series, so I was thrilled to see book three out in audio. It's about Luke, who feels like his life is a mess in spite of having a well-paid job in finance. He's snowed under with work and can't forget Oliver, the boy from high school that he can't forgive himself for how he treated back then. Oliver is at loose ends after selling his second company and comes to New York to look after his father, his only family, after he has a heart attack. And then he runs into Luke at their school reunion and Oliver's and Luke's lives get tangled together as they learn to ask for what they need and forgive themselves for past mistakes. There's a wonderful cast of secondary characters that support the story, made up of the main characters from the first two books as well as books to come. Michael Fell does such a skilled job bringing all these characters to life and I love his narration for this whole series! I highly recommend it!
