A quiet Christmas classic, lovingly revived.
Step into the snowy lanes and firelit halls of an English country Christmas with Old Christmas: Washington Irving’s nostalgic portrait of Yuletide as it once was. From coach rides through winter fields to candlelit feasts and sacred carols, these charming sketches capture a season of festivity, order, and peace.
This modernized and annotated edition preserves Irving’s original charm while making the language accessible for today’s listener. With gentle footnotes illuminating historical references, this edition is both beautiful and listenable: a perfect companion for quiet December nights or family traditions by the fire.
Whether you're a longtime admirer of Irving or discovering this forgotten gem for the first time, Old Christmas offers more than a story; it offers a vision of Christmas remembered, with all its warmth, welcome, and meaning.
