Summary

Hayley Okines is like no other 13-year-old schoolgirl. In Old Before My Time, Hayley and her mum, Kerry, reflect on her unusual life. Share Hayley’s excitement as she travels the world meeting her pop heroes Kylie, Girls Aloud, and Justin Bieber and her sadness as she loses her best friend to the disease at the age of 11.

Now as she passes the age of 13 - the average life expectancy for a child with progeria - Hayley talks frankly about her hopes for the future and her pioneering drug trials in America which could unlock the secrets of ageing for everyone....

Very moving and emotional book!

Would you listen to Old Before My Time again? Why?

I will certainly listen to it again, however I feel that if possible I will be even more emotional the second time round, given the sad news of Hayley's death.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the relationship between Hayley and her mother. Even with all of her Progeria related fame, she still stayed true to her.

Have you listened to any of Rosalyn Landor’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Unfortunately, I have not though I would like to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

To be quite honest, the book was very moving in general and therefore I feel that every moment was a moving one in its own way.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book to anyone, but have the tissues ready!

Amazing

I have seen Hayley okines online and on the internet but I never actually knew what she was feeling at that time. What it was like being older then your grandmother.
Her death in 2015 was heartbreaking. Especially how she kept saying that she would love to turn 18. She was so inoocent and beautiful. It just shows that sometimes the worst things happen to the best people
