About this listen

Since I was a little girl, I've known the fairy tale I've wanted to live.

Grow up. Fall in love. Get married to a man who will dance with me in the kitchen and kiss me for no reason. Have a big family and live happily ever after.

There's just one problem—men suck.

What's a southern girl have to do to find her future husband? It's certainly not on the dating apps, so I do something out of my comfort zone—I ask my step sister to set me up.

And what does she deliver? A six-foot-two, sexy as sin football coach who has a fear of commitment.

Great. The definition of my Prince Charming.

Only this man is no prince. He's a tall, dark, and handsome playboy who is impossible to resist.

I've never been a fling kind of girl, but with Davis, something so wrong feels so right. Maybe it's that we're doing it in secret? Or that I can somehow always feel his lips on me?

We both know we need to stop. Get out before anyone gets hurt.

There's just one problem. Well, two.

Two pink lines specifically.

Yup, this is definitely not how the fairy tale is supposed to go…

Brilliant narration from Duncan Prescott and Shane Martinez

Let’s say both our characters have different ideas on relationships. Davis is your kind of one night is enough and commitment is a very big swear word. All due that fact he was the care of his family for years. Bethany want it all the cottage and white picket fence. A blind date brings these two together. One hot night but on commitment. But Davis can’t resist Bethany.
Bethany is a gentle and caring woman and when her family grows she will do any thing to guard her heart and child. Davis may a lad but he is caring and when Bethany pulls away he becomes one sweet grumpy man.
Loved how these two worked things out and fell hard for each other. The chemistry, spice and angst is perfect.

Chelle Sloan pens another winning novel set in her “Nashville Fury” series, a sports romance that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. This second book of the series is Davis and Bethany’s story, Davis is Hunter’s friend and a coworker, and Bethany is Sadie’s sister, the main characters of the first book, “Off The Record”. Davis and Bethany met through them, and despite the two looking for different things in life, she a forever relationship, he a never relationship, they continued their steamy encounters, it always being the last one, until it finally was. Davis did not like hearing she was dating other guys, but he could not give her what she wanted, a forever love, or could he. Davis needed to get past his own insecurities and unreasonable rules, and while I admired how he looked after his family, especially his mother, he was doing himself a disservice by not giving love or a relationship a chance. Luckily, with wise words from his sister, he changed his stance, but he may have missed the opportunity with the best thing that happened to him, Bethany. Bethany went on her first date but wasn’t feeling it, and then she started feeling other things, only to learn she was pregnant. I enjoyed Chelle Sloan’s spin on the accidental pregnancy trope, with everything falling into place for these two, and the character growth was remarkable, especially his, though he had a setback after the baby was born, but he came to his senses. There was never a dull moment in this book, a multilayered story with the perfect balance of drama, witty banter and humor to lighten things up, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Chelle Sloan, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Duncan Prescott and Shane Martinez did a terrific job bringing these characters to life and were believable in every role. Martinez was a natural in Bethany’s role, grasping every aspect of her personality, including that southern sass and charm. Prescott did the same as Davis, also showcasing all aspects of his personality. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the side and secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, conveyed all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

I seem to have fallen into the hockey romance trope lately. This one is a bit different in the aspect of Davis not behind a player himself but a coach. It works though.
I really enjoyed all the banter. It had me laughing-out-loud throughout the entire book.
There were moments when I’d get upset with the characters (mostly Davis) but I also felt for him. For all the pressures on his shoulders.
Don’t get me started on accidental pregnancy (one of my favorites) and this book had me hooked from the beginning.
Overall I really enjoyed it and will definitely check out more books from this author

Format: Audiobook - Dual Narrated by Duncan Prescott & Shane Martinez
Series / Standalone: Interconnected Standalone (Nashville Fury Series, Book 2)
Tropes: Sports (Football), ONS to Lovers, Accidental Pregnancy

This is a cute lighthearted romance with minimal angst. There was a nice backstory for Davis that explains his desire to avoid relationships at all cost and his overall progression was okay. I had a bit of trouble when it came to the conflict toward the end as it really turned me off the MMC, but if you don’t mind a heavy dose of realism, it probably won’t be as drastic for you.

The narrators did a good job with the dual style production. I loved the southern accent from Bethany’s character. The audio is a quick listen and helped me stay engaged to this one.

Fun! Chelle Sloan brings a sports romance alive with her characters, Davis and Bethany. These two from the start have an instant explosion of chemistry. Understanding it is a one and done, they just can't leave it there. Time after time, they hook up, never date, and just enjoy the physicality of their relationship. Until Bethany realizes she wants more. Davis knows he can't give her more despite the fact he can't get her off of his mind. But just as he realizes he can continue his family responsibilities and have her she comes to him with a surprise. Now both their lives are decided and the fun really begins. Sloan gives these two so much to deal with and every part is packed with all the feels. I love Davis as he goes to his mom, helping in every way he can. He grows so much and it's total satisfaction for me to see him realize what life can give him. Bethany is quite the woman, dealing with all that she is given. She is supportive and loving. This was the perfect weekend listen for me, keeping my heart happy.

Duncan Prescott and Shane Martinez are the story tellers and they gave it all the emotions. Prescott is Davis and he finds his heart. I love how he is adamant about his life, but when he realizes there is so much more, Prescott gives him the confidence and feelings to bring it all out. Martinez has exactly all the feels as she begins her future. Each decision, each milestone and all the support she gives Davis comes through. I enjoyed these two and their performance.

Such a good sports romance!
