About this listen

The phenomenal third book in the TikTok sensation Legendborn Cycle by New York Times bestselling and award-winning author Tracy Deonn. Perfect for fans of Tahereh Mafi, Sabaa Tahir, Cassandra Clare and Leigh Bardugo!

Severed from the Legendborn. Oathbound to a monster.

Bree Matthews is alone. She exiled herself from the Legendborn Order, cut her ancestral connections, and turned away from the friends who can’t understand the impossible cost of her powers. This is the only way to keep herself – and those she loves – safe.

But Bree’s decision has come with a terrible price: an unbreakable bargain with the Shadow King himself, a shapeshifter who can move between humanity, the demon underworld, and the Legendborn secret society. In exchange for training to wield her unprecedented abilities, Bree has put her future in the Shadow King’s hands – and unwittingly bound herself to do his bidding as his new protégé.

Meanwhile, the other Scions must face war with their Round Table fractured, leaderless, and missing its Kingsmage, as Selwyn has also disappeared. When Nick is detained by the Order’s Merlins, he invokes an ancient law that requires the High Council of Regents to convene at the Northern Keep and grant him an audience. No one knows what he will demand of them . . . or what secrets he has kept hidden from the Table.

As a string of mysterious kidnappings escalates and Merlins are found dead, it becomes clear that no matter how hard Bree runs from who she is, the past will always find her . . .

the story is great, if clunky in places still moves at the pace you'd want it to. that ending omg. but the narrators all struggled with a Scottish accent at one point to the point I thought lark was Irish 🤣🤣

Great story but the accents were questionable

The continuation of this story line is fantastic! All of the different American accents are very well done, however, as a Scottish person, hearing how Larkin, who’s meant to be Scottish talk, is genuinely the most annoying thing ever. I ended up having to skip the parts where he’s talking because it was so bad 😅. I would strongly suggest getting someone who is actually Scottish or can do a genuine Scottish accent to do this in future.

Larkins Accent 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was a bit scared to begin with, a later installment in a series which takes focus from the established MC can be a bad sign. Don't worry though, she's still The King, and this is Her Camelot.

we are so back

amazing story
loved the narrators
Scottish was bad, but appreciated having other narrators to help in that. hey Meryl Streep says its the hardest accent. maybe get a Scottish actor too next time

Fantastic!

Good story, lots of twists and turns in the plot lines. However, both narrators absolutely butchered the Scottish accent of Larkin. Every single time Larkin spoke I was dragged abruptly from the story...totally ruined his sections. Couldn't even think about his storyline as the appalling Scottish accent was an all consuming distraction. Please, use a different narrator for him in the future. Those narrators efforts Scottish accents were horrendous, it's disgraceful. Reminds me of the USA actors doing Irish accents in the old films like Darby O Gill and the Little People or The Quiet Man...it's offensive to people to butcher their accents so badly.

The terrible Scottish accents ruined portions of the book
