About this listen

FROM THE MILLION-COPY BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE WEDDING PEOPLE
Sally Holt has always been mystified by the things her older sister, Kathy, seems to have been born knowing. Kathy has answers for all of Sally's questions about life, about love and about Billy Barnes, the high school basketball star who runs the refreshment stand at the local pool. Billy's unfathomable, otherworldly cool puts him on a different planet - until a tragedy leaves Sally's life forever intertwined with his.

Opening in the early nineties and charting almost two decades of shared history and missed connections, Notes on Your Sudden Disappearance is a dazzlingly unconventional love story that brims with unexpected moments of joy.

Sad and thought provoking. Enjoyed every minute. Wonderful narration. Can’t wait for the next book.

Story was sad. So sad and that’s all I could take from it. Just went on and on.

Fairly slow

Bit of a simple story with a very predictable plot that really dragged out. On top of that it was difficult for me to be sympathetic to the lead character.

Had expected more

Loved the insight into how grief affected Sally but this is very different to The Wedding People which was my favourite book of 2024 and was quite positive and uplifting. By contrast I found this book quite morose and it left me feeling quite low.

Moving but not as good as The Wedding People

I couldn’t bring my self to finish this, the first section was kind of slow paced and mundane, then it got depressing. I couldn’t connect with the lead character, perhaps it’s because the first section she was so young and whingy. The wedding guest was very uplifting and inspiring. Loved loved loved the audible short stories from the same author.
