About this listen

Houston... we have a problem.

Ezra Miller’s life has been turned upside down ever since his best friend hooked up with an alien named Al, and not just because he walked in on them having close encounters of the third kind. In the year since he discovered the truth about extraterrestrial life, Ezra has accidentally become the sole person the Darvrokian race trusts to act as Earth’s intergalactic representative, which is great and all, until he's assigned a Darvrokian coworker plucked out of his worst nightmares.

Titan Leon is everything Ezra hates in a man. He’s arrogant, presumptuous, and worst of all, hot enough to make Ezra forget why he hates him in the first place.

Hot enough that “absolutely not” turns into “only this one time.”

Hot enough that Ezra can overlook the fact that he’s Al’s most disliked brother.

But one time isn’t enough for Titan, and he won’t take no for an answer.

He’ll do whatever it takes to make Ezra his.

And sure, he’s an asshole… but as much as Ezra hates him, he can’t help but see that there’s something softer about him lurking just beneath the surface. Something more than Titan lets anyone else see. And whatever that something is, it has its hooks in Ezra so deeply, he can’t help but fall into bed with him over and over again.

With the same sense of humor and earnestness as Crash-Landed in Love, Not Written in the Stars is a witty contemporary alien romance that explores the ideas of identity, belonging, and choosing your own path in life, while tackling tough questions like: how much sand is needed to fill a room in your mansion? Is $100 enough to tip your new friend, Uber driver Carlos G? And how many Slim Jims are customary to put into a gift basket?

Please note that while this story takes place on modern-day Earth… life finds a way.

Holy smokes, what a treat! When I started the audio version of Not Written in the Stars I had no idea it was the second book in the He's Out of This World series lol. It soon became obvious I was missing something, but Piper Scott and Renee Fox did an excellent job of explaining it all and I never felt lost. You can believe I'm going to buy Crash-Landed in Love immediately so I can get caught up. This one does work as a standalone.

The characters are so original and charming, the dialogue is witty and laugh out loud funny, and the wacky cast kept me entertained. What a great idea for a new alien/human world!

The audio version of Not Written in the Stars is beautifully performed by Michael Ferraiuolo. I love how he uses sound effects to vocalize the alien language - wonderful!

I love this world.
Titan is so snarky and absolutely not impressed with humans at all.
He really does get some education about us.
Ezra has been a just go with the flow type of guy and quickly realizes there's more to life.
I laughed out loud at the hilarious hijinks, shook my head at absurd situations and slightly teared up.
Michael Ferraiuolo did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.

Absolutely incredible

Ezra and Titan's romance was so much more than a quirky alien love story. Their journey may have started as a hot as heck fling, but oh how the two of them grew over the course of the book. Titan was almost insufferably cocky when he first landed on Earth, demanding respect for his greatness and not at all understanding the way his arrogance pushed people away. It was no surprise that Ezra bemoaned the fact that he found him attractive, but there was no substance that could lead to an actual relationship. It was only after experiencing rejection that Titan started to reflect on the way he treated others and seek out advice on how to better himself, and I was really pleased to see him make a genuine effort to woo Ezra. Ezra had deep fears of abandonment from both his father's absence in his life and a string of ex-lovers who never chose to stay with him, so to say he was a commitment-phobe feels like an understatement. When a whoopsie pregnancy forced Ezra and Titan to couple up and support each other, I was cautiously optimistic that they would give each other what they needed to grow their feelings into a love connection. Titan blew me away with his earnest effort to change, and it was impossible for Ezra to go on hating him when he was doing so much to show that he wasn't the jerk older brother that Al despised being around. As the two of them stood by each other through goofy alien shenanigans, familial tension, and more than one surprise reveal, I believed in the love building between them. Whether or not they were True Mates wasn't important when both Ezra and Titan actively chose to be with each other every day, and their compatibility was out-of-this-world good. By the end of their journey, not only had Ezra and Titan professed their unwavering love for each other, they'd grown into the best versions of themselves, resolved their interpersonal conflicts, and taken the brave first steps into the world of fatherhood. I couldn't be happier with the conclusion of their book, and I'm thrilled to see that this series is continuing with another of Al and Titan's siblings!

This was a really fun audiobook that came at the perfect time because I have been in a bit of a slump recently and needed something that was low angst, a bit silly, and it had been ages since I'd read an alien/human romance!

I personally haven't read book 1 (I will do now!) and I did not have any problems keeping up with the plot or overall world-building of this book.

I also love when the Alien MCs take every single thing the humans say in English completely literally and at face value. The humor in this book really hit the spot.

For me, the focus on their relationship was totally lost in the second half of the book, as things really shifted to being about all the side characters, and it felt like their HEA was quite rushed in order to fit in the mpreg/clutch parts of the story.

But overall, the world-building was really fun, and Michael Ferraiuolo does a fantastic job narrating the huge cast of characters!

A very funny human-alien romance
