Summary

A full-length standalone romantic comedy from USA TODAY best-selling author R.S. Grey.

"Oh my god. Who is that?"

I get asked this question a lot.

"Oh him?" I reply. "That's just Ian."

Just Ian is the biggest understatement of the century. Just the Mona Lisa. Just the Taj Mahal. Just Ian, with his boring ol' washboard abs and dime-a-dozen dimpled smile.

Just Ian is...just my best friend.

We're extremely close, stuck so deep inside a Jim-and-Pam-style friendzone everyone at work assumes we're a couple - that is until one day, word spreads through the teacher's lounge that he's single. Fair game. Suddenly, it's open season on Ian.

He should be reveling in all the newfound attention, but to our mutual surprise, the only attention he seems to want is mine.

He's turning our formerly innocent nightly chats into X-rated phone calls. Our playful banter sports a new, dangerous edge.

I want to assume he's playing a prank on me, just pushing my buttons like always - but when Ian lifts me onto the desk in my classroom and slides his hands up my skirt, he doesn't leave a lot of room for confusion.

I'm a little scared of things going south, of losing my best friend because I can't keep my hands to myself. So, I'm just going to back away and not return this earth-shattering kiss - oh who am I kidding?!

Goodbye Ian, ol' buddy, ol' pal!

Helloooo mister not so nice guy.

LOL Moments

Loved this book. It was an easy read with many literal LOL moments. My husband asked multiple times what was so funny because I was laughing out loud while listening to the book with my headphones on. The narrators were perfect in showing each character's personality.

Started out great...ending not so much

This book started out interesting and quirky, but quickly went down hill. It became formulaic and predictable with the twist literally being that the heroine has a histerical breakdown - this isn’t even a spoiler, its so predictable.

I was really taken with the characters, there was great chemistry and I really like a ‘friends to lovers’ romance, but then I lost interest when the author once again made the men in the book calm and reasonable and the women bitches, stupid, histerical or unreasonable.

Worst book ever

They are the worst couple ever. Tedious and so annoying.
Omg like kiss her already, and you, Sam just grow up.
Terrible waste of a credit.

Funny but a little cringe worthy

It’s a cute story but Sam’s character was a little cringe worthy. She is emotionally immature and if it wasn’t for the fact that it would have bothered me not knowing the ending, I would have given up listening several times. If you like romantic comedies that are a little ditzy, this is for you. If you want something more substantial, chooses something else.

Good Humor

Like with the other R.S. Grey books I've listened too the narration is always good and I am guaranteed to laugh. They are sort of my go-to books whenever I've listened to something heavy and need light and fun. This story was no different. Sam and Ian mesh really well in this story. Best Friends who are both secretly in love with the other and although Samantha is scared to take the relationship beyond friends Ian is all for it. Samantha's character is silly and quirky and will make you laugh. I thought it was worth the credit.

Narration.....

I really liked this story. Predictable HEA but loved it anyway.

The woman was an over-thinker by personality, which is okay, but the further into the book it went it seemed, the more dramatic she became. The more drama there was, the more immature her voice sounded. I went from her sounding like a young, adult professional in the beginning to feeling 3/4 way through that she was a drama teen.

I liked the story well enough to finish but will also be aware in the future when looking at narrators.

New Favorite!

I loved this book! The characters were engaging with enough quirk to be laugh out loud funny. It was believable and outlandish at the same time. Sooo good!
