About this listen

""He’s the kind of man who would talk you into dropping your panties in a coat closet at a party, dole out orgasms like after dinner mints, and then never call you again.”

From the Wall Street Journal and #1 Amazon bestselling author comes a new installment to the Blue Moon small town romance series.
A womanizing bad boy with a motorcycle and sexy-as-sin smile is not part of Emma’s life plan.

She moved cross-country to be close to family and finally settle down in hippie, trippy, nosy Blue Moon Bend. But when famed fashion photographer Niko shows up with his leather jacket, underwear-melting voice, and a problem, she sees nothing but trouble.

He’s all wrong for Emma, but that doesn’t stop the attraction from boiling over.

Niko doesn’t let being friend zoned get in his way. Once he gets his hands—and his mouth—on her, will their friendship survive? Or will he lose everything he’s worked for back in New York to the redhead who dominates his every thought?"

Book 4 in the Blue Moon series features Nikolai (Summer's best friend from book 1) and Emmaline, also known as Emma (Gia from book 2's sister). Nikolai arrives in Blue Moon seeking a change of scenery, having become disenfranchised with his jet-setting, commitment-free life as a fashion photographer. Emma moved to Blue Moon almost a year ago to run the brewery opened by the Pierce brothers, one of whom is her sister's husband. Emma immediately recognizes Nikolai as a player and refuses his advances, but Nikolai is determined to win over the intriguing Emmaline.

This is my favorite of the series so far, by a hair. This book jumps forward in time from the end of book 3; Summer and Carter are now parents to their twin toddlers, Beckett and Gia have added to their brood, and Joey and Jax are about to become parents to the first foal for the stable's breeding program. I really liked the banter and dynamics between all the characters, although I never fully connected with Emmaline, as her issues were not unique, and she essentially worked against her own interests on more than one occasion due to her abandonment issues. While professing a desire to settle down, she ran from it at every opportunity. I found that aspect a bit tedious. I enjoyed Nikolai more, as he did not pretend to be someone he wasn't; he was all in with Emma, even if he didn't realize it initially, and he was great at pushing her buttons in a fun way. The romance was also enjoyable.

Overall, an enjoyable read with the low-angst energy I was after.🌶🌶
