I'm surprised and also disappointed that I didn't like this. Nicky James, the blurb, and the high reviews—I was sure this would be good, but yeaah no.. I was expecting a touching, beautiful, and at least somewhat sad story. But what I experienced was just boredom. There was nothing in the characters or the plot that grabbed me or hooked me as a reader. I listened to this as an audiobook, and Adam Gold did a good job as usual, but even that didn't help bring the characters or the story to life.
