Summary

Ms. Sun is a charming, cash-strapped teaching artist put in charge of a rambunctious group of 10th graders at a public school in the Bronx. While directing her students in a play, Ms. Sun must lift them up while everything around them is falling apart.

Written and performed by acclaimed playwright Nilaja Sun and based on her eight-year experience with arts education in New York City, No Child is an inspiring, multi-character solo show that examines America’s broken school system - and reveals the life and love that fill every classroom.

South Bronx native

I felt like I went back in time to the days in the schools of the South Bronx. The experiences, struggles, triumphant stories were so prevalent in the Bronx then are they are now. Thank you for telling our story. ❤️

Good story, well performed

It’s a good audiobook, just get over the first 15 minutes. It will take some time to get into the story, once you’ve done the first few minutes you’ll probably enjoy it.

Excellent read. You will not be disappointed

Loved the story line and narration. The narrator of this story created an experience that allowed you to visualize the characters and setting in the story. The story was easy to follow and kept my interest. Even though the story was short it leaves an impact. A must listen.

Just not my style of reading

This story was supposed to be there about a school of basically delinquents and their problems in adventures I guess you would call it. When the narrator talked, it made me feel like I was in the kitchen sitting there listening to gossip. That’s just the frame That she put me in. I did not finish the book.

Arts education reality

Enjoyed this tale of one arts educator's experience at an urban school with underserved students. I've been in those shoes and am so glad to hear the humanity of all these characters shine through.
