About this listen

The Four Realms are experiencing an unprecedented period of peace...

At thirteen years old, it became known Prince Aleksei Knightstar of Night’s Fall was the True Heir. The next king, the fiercest warrior, the mightiest beast in all the realm.

The Fall rejoiced at having the first True Heir in over a century.

But Aleksei is private, no nonsense, and worried about why The Fall, in a time of peace, would need a True Heir.

Laura Makepeace is a talented costume designer and everywoman who’s recovering from a recent random and traumatic attack where she lost something vital. She barely has it in her to put on a pretty frock and go drinking with her girlfriends.

She certainly isn’t prepared to be summoned to the True Heir’s table in the VIP section of a club.

The prince is not a male easily put off, not to mention, like every other female in the Four Realms, Laura has been crushing on him since she first saw him.

Thus, Laura finds herself suddenly being courted by Prince Aleksei and thrown into a whirl of public and press attention, royal family dysfunction…

And a plot that threatens lives and the peace of the Four Realms.

Wow, way to go Ms Ashley with a stunning surprise! This new series was spectacular! A completely different and unique take on romantasy. I loved the characters, the setting and the descriptions were totally brilliant. The imagination and originality was superb. I cannot wait to see how the next book develops. My mind is a whirl with ideas and hopes. Once again you gave us your readers and fans a real treat that was unexpected. Great narration too.

soooo happy to see kristen writing about her fantastical universe again. such a great author but especially wonderful when supernatural is the subject matter. can't wait for the rest in the series.

Kristen Ashley doing what she does best.

Sadly, the most interesting part of this story happens at the beginning. The rest is just much the same the whole way through . The MMC is not real likeable, is frequently a jerk but it’s just swept under the rug . No real excitement or story development which is ashame as the world that’s been created could really be interesting. I won’t be reading the rest in the series .

Yawn

Used to love Kirsten Ashley but beginning to think she just reuses dialogue from previous novels and sticks them into new subject matter. Struggled with narrative, it was boring, predictable and sappy. Nothing new. Keep hoping that she would return to form and bring on the wonder and excitement that was her early novels but this and the last 4 novels are a complete disappointment. Narration was also very sloppy and whining. Stopped listening half way through as I couldn't take it anymore.

Don't bother
