Summary

When Charlie Porter meets Hazaar Alim her first year of university, she's instantly smitten. Hazaar has it all: beauty, talent, and brains. What she doesn't realize is that Hazaar's future has already been decided, and Charlie has no place in it.

Hazaar desperately wants to break with her traditions and stay with Charlie, but when forced to choose, she chooses her family over love. When she realizes the choice she made is the worst one possible, it's too late.

Years later, while working in Pakistan as a diplomat and negotiator, Charlie receives a phone call from a woman who says her British sister-in-law is to be killed for the family's honor and asks if someone can save her.

Charlie and Hazaar are on a collision course with destiny. If they make it out alive, can they believe in their love once again?

Different...

I found myself looking forward to being in the car to listen to the next couple of chapters of this book. The characters have been well written and developed throughout the story. Just the right measures of suspense, cute moments and an unusual storyline. Would quite happily listen to it again sometime. Narrator did a great job too, she moved seamlessly between the different accents (and made it believable)!

my new favourite book

Well written and excellently performed. I particularly enjoyed the realness and believability of the characters and the struggles of the LGBT youth in religious culture.

Excellent, I could not stop listening

I ended up binge listening to this gripping lesbian love story because it caught me up to the extent that I could not stop listening. The story is moving, interesting, educational to those who don't know Islam, as well as well written. The characters are believable and the plot will keep you hooked. Beautiful narration too. Thanks to both Andrea Bramhall and Zehra Jane Naqvi for an exceptionally good audiobook and Audible for a good production and I will definitely look out for more audiobooks by Andrea Bramhall.

I couldn't finish it so...best I can say...

I wish the sample could be longer because in the sample no accent was heard. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but I couldn't get into it. I cared nothing for the character or the story being told. It bored ms, I don't know if that was because of storyline or the narrator. Sorry, not for me

absolutely amazing

I was not 100% sure whether this was a book I would enjoy. I have never been more wrong. This book was one of the best books I have ever read. I cannot tell much, but the emotion in it, the story and the way it was told was outstanding. Great read, cannot recommend it enough.
