Summary

A bonding adventure goes horribly wrong in this gripping story of trust, survival, and motherly instincts. Karla and her stepdaughter Olivia are alone on a remote family camping trip when news of a mysterious outbreak in nearby San Francisco begins to trickle in.

With little information to go on, the two women must identify the biggest threat to their safety: the supposedly deadly virus, the stranger who stumbles into their campsite, or each other.

Playwright Marisela Treviño Orta was awarded a commission through the Audible Emerging Playwrights Fund, an initiative dedicated to developing innovative original plays driven by language and voice. As an Audible-commissioned playwright, she received funding and creative support to develop Nightfall, which was directed by Elena Araoz.

Great tense drama

Well written, good performances, tense action. An end of the world scenario with, perhaps predictable outcomes, but it is a good journey getting there.

A great zom-poc origin story

I really enjoyed this. I'm a zombie addict so I'm probably biased, but this was a well done introduction to the apocalypse. Some slightly hammy acting and clunky dialogue but this improved as it went along.

Having exhausted all the decent zombie stories now I was delighted to find this. I'd be more delighted if they continued the story. The cast format for this kind of story is great when done well, rather than the hugely disappointing "We're Alive" which is like all the worst soap opera/sound productions rolled into one.

Finally an Audible Original that gets it mostly right.

Decent short story.

This wasn't a terrible short story, but could be better. The voice actors were great, and it's nice to find it on the plus catalogue - I definitely wouldn't have wanted to spend a credit on it! However, the ending was really annoying in my opinion and came very abruptly.

Really good!

I liked this a lot - it was well-performed and realistic. I would like more of this kind of drama from Audible and would be interested in a follow up to this particular story.

Great

I love an audible drama and this is great, it makes you feel fully immersed as if you are right there with the characters in the story. keeps you hooked and interested in what is going to happen next. I do wish it was longer and I hope that there are more stories from this author soon.

Short and sweet

Most zombie books iv heard/read have been longer. But this was a good short story.

Good performances with a middle of the road story.

I found each of the performers were compelling and helped me get through the story. I say this as the story itself is just mediocre and pretty cliché at some points. It's an okay listen if you want to kill a couple hours.

meh...

Pros- interesting setting and idea.

Cons- all characters were stereotypical idiots. I wish audio dramas didn't treat their listeners like dribbling imbeciles and allowed us to fill in the blanks, instead of unrealistic dialogues with exposition dumps. Please...no more teenage angst ... nobody cares!

Could have been fleshed out more..

The story had some nice touches to add to an already drenched genre. I did particularly enjoy the performances and found the build up believable. Could have done with more to the story and perhaps more sound effects to add tension and movement.
