About this listen
When a bolt of lightning strikes 17-year-old Viranda’s home during a severe thunderstorm, she awakens, dazed, to find a strange blood-covered man sitting calmly on her bed. This man claims to be Cillian Balor, The Night Warrior, the same character Viranda herself had created in her novel.
Cillian believes Viranda to be the Goddess of Fate from his homeworld of Lingard. However, Viranda claims there is no Goddess of Fate in Lingard; she should know, she did create it, after all. When other characters from her book begin to appear in her world, Viranda fears what would happen if the likes of Finn Razorclaw, a deadly werewolf and the archrival of Cillian, or the feared witches of The Black Cat Clan arrived, as well. With the help of her best friend, Bee, and a protection gnome named Mo, Viranda and Cillian must discover the secret to Cillian’s existence and prevent catastrophic damage by powerful supernatural beings.

ScavoneDoubtless in order to keep later twists the books has something of a slow and is kind of formulaic teen girl stuff (although it is nice to see creatures pulled into our world rather than the teenage girl finding herself in a fantasy kingdom). But once the story got its hooks into me I couldn’t put it down. Seriously the twists are great, it’s packed with really well told action.
I’m a sucker for world building i love a rich fantasy land and there are a lot of moving parts and things to remember here. With every major revelation comes new twists and turns that almost makes this feel like the extremely meta spinoff book to a more traditional swords and sorcery type affair.
I wasn’t in love with the narrator as there were times it was hard to tell who was meant to be speaking and the background noise could be distracting when i used headphones

Firstly, a huge thankyou to the author for reaching out and giving me this amazing opportunity to listen to the night terror.
What a beginning so you learn about Veranda and Bea’s relationship, it’s so unexpected to get so much gore at the beginning. I cringed and shuddered at the accident that happens. I found it so interesting how the story started to unfold. I could feel the anticipation build as everything that started to happen to Veranda began.
There was such a variety of different characters from a prince to knights to fairies to gnomes to witches and so much more. Can I just say how much I love the name ‘emberleigh’. I found myself enlightened by the two different worlds.
There’s so much to this audio/book/read the relationships that creep out of the darkness are so unexpected. How the story itself is written and what is reality and the truth. How the characters relationships are connected and so much more. It’s not all evil there’s that perfect balance of good and evil. I wasn’t ready for the ending at all. I hope there will be a follow up book 2.
I found it extremely fast paced and easy to follow. I hated pausing it when I got home or got to work. This is an exceptional fantasy that builds on the emotions of relationships so much. Every part of this just grips you, the action is fantastic. The imagination is outstanding. A fun creative brilliant read/audio that I adored listening to.
