About this listen

What happens when the number-one college hockey star in the country falls in love - with a man?

Nick Johnson, a top prospect for a pro hockey team, has a secret: He’s gay. Tired of living in the closet for the sport he loves, he sees no way out.

Jacob Meyer’s string of bad boyfriends left him cynical about love. Instead, he focuses on his studies as a third-year law student. With a new job waiting for him, he’s eager to graduate and move on.

On a school-sponsored trip, Nick and Jacob meet in a most unexpected way. When Nick tells Jacob his secret, they decide to hang out, just as friends. But their attraction is too strong to ignore, and they soon begin dating.

Since Nick is a big man on campus, it doesn’t take long for people to notice his attachment to Jacob. All hell breaks loose when the relationship gets out. As the national media descends, university officials try to figure out how to solve their “problem”.

Their efforts divide Nick’s team, inflame fans, and put Nick and Jacob’s futures in jeopardy. Will the men be able to survive a plot to destroy them without derailing both their careers?

Nice Catching You is an out-for-you romance featuring a lot of love, exciting hockey, and a beautiful holiday. There’s also plenty of steam and a very happy ending.

This has been on my wishlist for over a year and I'm glad I finally picked it. Brilliant coming out story with lots of ups and downs. Great characters both main and supporting and an excellent job as usual by narrator Nick. definitely recommend and looking forward to learning more about the Barracudas in the second book.

Brilliant

4.5 Stars!!!

This was my first book by Ryan Taylor & Joshua Harwood, but I can assure you it won't be the last. I found their writing style refreshing and engaging and I really connected with the characters, which is always a plus.

Nick is a closeted hockey player, but make no mistake, he's not the kind of man who would hide his feelings when he finds the right man, which is something that I adored about him and made him my favorite of the two. Jacob is out and proud, and has zero clue as to what hockey is, which I could relate to, LOL. On paper, they should be polar opposites, and yet, they are just perfect for one another, complementing each other in the best of ways. Their chemistry was palpable and while they fall in love fairly quickly, it works well for them.

I also loved Blake, Kelly, Scotty, and most of their teammates, and I adored how they all backed their captain when he needed them. On the other hand, I absolutely hated Banks and Higgins, and unfortunately, could never warm up to Kayla, Jacob's BFF, who made me angry more than a few times.

The audiobook was captivating! Nick J. Russo is amazing and shines in books with younger (college-aged) characters and especially with a big cast of characters. He definitely did justice to Nick and Jacob and their story and made it even better for me.

Overall, I really enjoyed Nice Catching You, it was riveting and I really liked the hockey action, even if this Guatemalan girl hasn't seen a game in her life, hahaha. I loved Nick and Jacob and most of the supporting cast and I loved that the bad guys got their comeuppance in such an epic way! Definitely an audiobook I have no trouble recommending!

Really good!

I wish I had listened to the series in order.
I loved Nick and Jacob’s story so much and what they endured so they could live and live on peace although I will never look at Excalibur the same again iykyk.

I enjoyed this book when I read it with my eyes but Nick J. Russo’s performance elevated it even higher.

I rarely have such strong emotional responses when listening to a book that I’ve already read but this book just about did me in. It’s a great coming out story and you don’t need to know anything about hockey to enjoy it.

Great audio performance of a good story.
