I loved how the author didn’t pull punches. His straight-talking was refreshing. If you’re a wet leftie liberal (or Democrat) you probably won’t enjoy this. But for the grown ups it’s good to read about how the first Trump administration put its house in order. I wish the UK would do the same. Indeed the world needs more Pompeo and less woke and ignorant people either running countries or telling others how to run countries. Lots of great anecdotes and inside stories. The ones he couldn’t tell would make a good book, too. I loved his Christian faith which underpinned his humanity and decency. I can see the useful idiots not liking this, but hopefully the world will relocate its moral direction and take a leaf out of Pompeo’s approach. Namely put democracy and decency first, and stand up to tyrants and bad actors on the world stage.

It is frightening to realize that the writer was one of the most powerful and influential people on the planet with such a narrow view and knowledge of the world. Over simplifying complex issues without understanding the complete picture and the underlying reasons. All of the world leaders, except for a few who were totally subservient to the writer in his role, are / were naive and lacked understanding of the world politics. The writer didn't give any useful detail to help understand why he took a certain step or any other information which would make this book worth the paper it has been written on.

The book can be summarized in a few lines i.e.,
- It is the responsibility of every human and country in this world to work for the US even if it means going against their culture, values and constitution.
- The only 2 people who cared about the US were President Trump and the writer himself, everyone else in and out of the administration was working for ulterior motives.Anyone who doesn't / didn't agree with the writer has either been labelled as a traitor or in a similar league.

On one hand I regret dedicating my precious time on this book but on the other I have come to understand why the US foreign policy appears to be in shambles (pre & post Trump).
