Summary

Forever is such a long time.

Walter Tye is the best friend any adventurer needs. He is the smiling shopkeeper next to your local dungeon, the one who sells you these cheap healing potions. When you need information, Tye always knows. He wants to help; you can trust him.

He is also the undead necromancer ruling said dungeon, getting paid to solve problems that he caused in the first place. But don't tell anyone that....

A massive disapointment

It's truly hard to believe this is the same author who wrote vainqueur the dragon. First off, ignore the premise. This book is NOT about a Necromancer who runs an alchemy shop above his dungeon. That is tossed out the window within the first few chapter and we never set foot in either dungeon or alchemy shop again.

As for Litrpg, it barely qualifies. It seems like stats and levels are more of an annoyance to the author than a theme.

As much as I hate to say this given how much I've enjoyed his other writings, I'd recommend giving this book a hard pass.

Good, not perfect, a bit depressing.

I enjoyed it. The characters and story were compelling. Yet now that I have finished it I just feel a little sad and empty.

Writing from the perspective of a true villain is hard and this has certainly done a grand job of it. But, it is not a happy book.

overall not very good

i didn't finish this book i couldn't be bothered after 7 hours. i feel like the writing is a bit sloppy.. im not sure what the best word to describe it is.. unoriginal? one of the realms is Asgard where the king lives in Camelot and his son is prince Arthur and Sir Lancelot is Arthur's personal knight, in.. Asgard... where the nordic gods rule the realms. it just feels like that the author took a bunch of known stories and smashed it all together, and in this place you'll find very new and original spells like, Pain spell, Death 10 and super magic vision.

i gotta give credit to the narrator for giving it 120% But it is just WAAAY too much, all the women have loud ear piecing voices and its like he's yelling into to the mic.

if you want to listen to something else this guy made i would recommend The Perfect Run it's much better put together than this book

The voice actor blew it.

I've tried to get used to the voices and speech patterns. But I just can't.
Weird pauses, young girls sounding like grannies, the main character (a lich pretending to be a 24 year old shopkeep) sounding like an old.... well..Lich!
Real inconspicuous my guy..

None of the characters sound like actual believable people in my opinion.

I can't say anything about the story since I haven't made it far.

Lich lover approved

I loved this.
A villain protagonist, Liches and magic? Yes, please!

Overall a very intriguing story, speckled with Norse Mythology, moral quandaries and, in my opinion, very likable characters.
I really enjoyed the world building and possibly learning a thing or two about Norse Mythology.

The narration is excellently done and a joy to listen to.

Quirky at times and Nice to be a villain.

Just because it doesn't have a fairytale ending doesn't make it depressing. I loved how Walter is always honest about his hate for other people and doesn't give in to their requests just because they say 'Please'. There is a good quality of realism in this fantasy when it comes to manipulating people and I loved it. A nice variety of characters both good and evil with very few voices sounding similar. Drawing on the Norse mythology and threading it into a dungeon style story was enjoyable without relying heavily on pre existing tropes. You can always expect a bit of recurring deaths when a necromancer is involved which can take away from the emotion when a character is killed off. They may have overdone it with Percy a bit but at least each death was different. I enjoyed the mind games and having main characters try diplomacy while playing a board game rather than just try bash each others heads in. It showed off a variety of tactics people employ when in dispute although bashing does seem to be rather successful.
