Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Never Coming Back by Tim Weaver.

A secret that will change lives forever....

It was supposed to be the start of a big night out. But when Emily Kane arrives at her sister Carrie's house, she finds the front door unlocked and no one inside. Dinner's cooking, the TV's on. Carrie, her husband and their two daughters are gone. When the police draw a blank, Emily asks missing persons investigator David Raker to find them. It's clear someone doesn't want the family found.

But as he gets closer to the truth, Raker begins to uncover evidence of a sinister cover-up spanning decades and costing countless lives. And worse, in trying to find Emily's missing family, he might just have made himself the next target....

Never Coming Back

Having listened to Tim Weaver's David Raker 'Missing' series in an strange non-linear way it was useful to put certain plot points into place. Having suffered horrendous wounds and dying on the operating theatre, Raker is living back in south Devon and soon becomes embroiled in his teenage sweetheart's missing family case.

This was a long book, over 14 hours, so the plot was pretty detailed. Some of it was rather far-fetched and relied on councidences. Also, as I've said before about the character of David Raker, he doesn't really leap off of the pages as being particularly human. The human body can only take *so* much punishment, so, considering that this is only book #4 it is fairly unrealistic.

That said, I've read or listened to all of them now and they're still enjoyable. The narrators were excellent.

This one’s story is a bit over the top but as unputdownable as all the series and brilliantly read as ever

I usually like Tim Weaver books, but this one is like walking through treacle for me ... stuck it out until chapter 25 & gave up ...
