About this listen

Little Jamey, 2½ years old, is placed with experienced foster carer, Cathy Glass, as an emergency.

The police and social services have no choice but to remove two-year-old Jamey from home after his mother leaves him alone all night to go out partying.

When he first arrives with foster carer Cathy Glass, he is scared, hungry and withdrawn, craving the affection he has been denied for so long. He is small for his age and unsteady on his feet – a result of being left for long periods in his cot.

Cathy and her family find Jamey very easy to love, but as he settles in and makes progress, a new threat emerges. Coronavirus and lockdown change everything.

A fantastic book as always by this author, it was interesting to read how Cathy and her family coped with fostering in the pandemic. Jamie was a wonderful child and got the outcome that he deserved. A sad story of neglect that Jamie had to suffer but thankfully Cathy was able to help him which is a huge relief.

Great story.

As usual, no one writes these kinds of books better than Cathy Glass. Her genuine love for the children she fosters shines through. This one is different and in some ways even better than usual, since it talks about life in the pandemic which is something we can all relate to. Also, Jamie is such a lovable child, and I genuinely want to know how he gets on. Thank you, Cathy, for another treasure. The reading, as usual, is absolutely brilliant and I cannot imagine anyone else reading Kathy‘s books.

There is something special about this one

Hypothetically speaking, I couldn't put this book down. I own many paper copies of Cathy's books but time to actually read is a thing of the past now. So I started and finished this audio book in a little over 24 hours. I just couldn't stop listening. I didn't watch TV for 24 hours. Can't wait for the next one

Amazing. But did make me cry.
