About this listen

I never expected to see my first love again after he left me 12 years ago. Though I’ve moved on, working with Tyler is no easy task- especially when he focuses his bedroom eyes on me. Flirting with the past is like playing with fire, and considering I’m engaged, I’m bound to get burned.

When the man I promised to marry reveals he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, I run to the safety of Tyler’s strong arms. As we grow closer, so do our feelings. Threats and ultimatums are made, and the revelation of the truth is enough to bring me to my knees. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect my family, even if it means shredding my heart.

Too dangerous, too unpredictable, too risky to handle alone - we need each other now more than ever.

After our world nearly collapses, there’s nothing left to do but take it back. Tyler and I team up to destroy the people who are determined to ruin our second chance at a happily ever after. Though our love is undeniable, I just hope it’s enough. We’ll fight until the end to be together - regardless of who tries to get in our way.

Needing You Close is a slow burn, angsty second chance romance with lots of small-town Southern drama. It's book two in the Tyler & Gemma duet and must be listened to in order.

This is the conclusion to Gemma and Tyler's story and book 1 must be read first. I really enjoyed Tor Thom and Lia Langola's performances for the audiobook. They captured the elements to Tyler and Gemma's relationship that I loved so well, their playful humour, their desire for each other and the hurt they both go through.

Needing You Close showcased Gemma and Tyler's relationship developing into a friendship and more as their old feelings for each other strengthened. There were plenty of moments that made me smile and the chemistry was clear to see as they began to open up to the idea that they are meant to be together, and as Gemma realised Robert is not the man for her. Of course there is plenty of drama to go alongside the romance, Robert is more manipulative than I ever expected him to be. With Tyler knowing Victoria is back and set to make his life hell all over again and Robert doing his best to keep Gemma on a tight leash I didn't know how they would get out of this one together. Needless to say I was thrilled with how the ending turned out, as I listened I no doubt had a smug grin on my face as each character got their comeuppance.

A good conclusion to Gemma and Tyler series

Back in the world of small town romances with a twist, back with Gemma and Tyler – finally! I’ve loved this world centering on ex-cons finding their second chances from the start, but I’ve loved its characters even more. I was fully invested in everything Gemma and Tyler, rooting for them to find happiness with each other. And while their ride wasn’t as wild and angst filled as other Kennedy Fox stories, I was engrossed from beginning to end. These two might just have stolen my heart with their well-written, slowly building love story that started so many moons ago. Sigh.

Multilayered, multidimensional characters, deeply emotional plots – that’s what I’ve come to love and expected from books by this author duo. Their characters always feel believable, relatable and real, like I could meet them in real life and actually become friends with them – and I adore that!

You might always know the outcome, the end result of a book like this one, but you’ll never be able to predict the bumps and roadblocks, the twists and turns to overcome for the couple to get there. There was actually a point in this book I began doubting if Tyler would really get his girl. That’s the kind of romance I live for and the reason while I’ll always come back for more from this particular author.

Tor Thom and Lia Langola did an amazing job adding another layer to this story, enhancing the emotions even further with their voices.

Wonderful conclusion to the duet

Needing You Close is the perfect conclusion to this duet! While there were some parts that seemed slow, it redeemed itself in the end I really enjoyed the story. Tyler and Gemma went through ALOT to get to where they ended up and I loved how they got there, it was completely unexpected and I didn’t see it coming. If you know, you know 😉

This is the conclusion of Keeping you Away and while I loved the story, the first book is still my favorite.

I was glad the authors didn't go into the drama with Victoria, I was afraid it would happen when I finished listening the first book. Kudos for dodging the predictability and going into another direction: the abusive fiancée. I did not see it coming. This story is OTT, but I felt the way things were described was very good so I didn't feel it was too much. Both characters and motivations are believable, they were likable and cute together.

The narration duo is amazing, love both narrators and they were a good choice for this story!

Part two of this duet was well worth the wait. It was thrilling and had lots of unexpected moments. But my favorite part of course was Tyler and Gemma making an attempt to truly rekindle their relationship. Things took such a turn with Robert and I felt tense whenever he was even mentioned as the story went on. But that was just one aspect that I liked about the story. I liked how Tyler and Gemma spent time together not just in a physical sense so it really felt like they built their relationship back up instead of just jumping back into bed and calling it a done deal that they were together. And then things kept getting so crazy and I wasn’t sure from one moment to the next what was going to happen, I just knew I was enjoying the journey. After all was said and done, I was once again reminded why I’ve been listening to any Kennedy Fox book I could get my hands on because they are great story tellers.
I also must mention how much I loved the voices they got to tell the story this time. Tor Thom and Lia Langola came back for this performance and once again did a fantastic job. I loved not only Tor’s deep growly voice for Tyler but also the emotion and passion and energy both Lia brought to Gemma. This duet is a must listen to kind of story.
