About this listen

Need Machine clamors through the brain like an unruly marching band. Both caustic and thoughtful, these poems offer a topography of modern life writ large in twitchy, neon splendor, in a voice as sure as a surgeon and as trustworthy as a rumor. Honest, irreverent, and sharply indifferent, this audiobook will "hogtie you with awe."

Editor reviews

Rats, the Holiday Inn lobby, doing donuts in the parking lot… Andrew Faulkner's unapologetic poetry, both severe and contemplative, deals with dreary, everyday objects. The speakers seem to suffer from generalized ennui and the poems certainly highlight their boredom while not being boring. Rather, these poems are honest and carefully constructed, full of intense emotions. William Damron performs the work with perfect pacing, lingering on vivid images, catching Faulkner's dark, lyrical tone pitch perfectly. Poetry fans will enjoy this collaborative effort.
