About this listen

Out in the Badlands of space there are fortunes to be made, wrongs to be righted, and fights to be won. Victor finds himself on the planet Lomond wedged between communist slavers, starving children, and a powder keg waiting to be lit.

This book really set it for me that this series is best listened to as one unit rather than 6. Standalone the books can feel a little hit or miss. I liked book 1, 2 was a slight miss, 3 was good and this one was great.

We finally got character development all over. The reanimated no longer seem just like heartless robots but they are shown to have complexity. This book in particular really brings together the Necron and humanity as being more similar than different. It’s a very enjoyable listen with a great and more complex story than the other books in the series. It really feels like the series has found its footing and it marching off to the beat of its own drum!

Craig - I admire him! Every book I think he sounds more and more comfortable with the narration and then he sings away as well when the character would. I wouldn’t bestow that upon anyone if it were me narrating but Craig is has really taken the challenge and is starting to shine in his performance. He’s hitting all the right notes in the tone of the book and the dialogue. I’m impressed with how this series and narration is developing.
