About this listen

As a romance novelist, I'm facing my worst nightmare - writer's block. No matter what I write, I hit delete, knowing it's not worth publishing. The future of my career rests on the success of this new book.

So, here I am, looking at Tumblr, desperate for inspiration, when I hear a thumping. Annoyed by the music blaring through the walls, I barge into the hall and bang on my neighbor's door.

My very hot, very naughty neighbor, Jake Morreau.

Jake is romantic, charming, and the bane of my existence. I need to work, yet he refuses to let me. When he greets me in the hallway, ideas of a sinfully hot hero come to mind. When he takes me out on the town, the words flow as soon as I come home. The more time I spend with this entertaining and quick-witted man, the more I'm able to write.

My neighbor is my muse, and before I know it, I slowly become the heroine of my own story, but I don't know how to end it. As I write the epilogue, I'm afraid our romance won't pan out as I've written.

Jake Morreau is my hero. Then again, in my life, heroes don't exist.

Contains mature themes.

Easy story to follow . But I’m sorry female narration sounded like it was computer generated(was it?). . It was really awful. Male character voice was good. Shame pleasant love story

Nice pleasant love story

A cute story with the most adorable proposal scene ever. Narration felt a bit disconnected unfortunately. I think more expressive narration could have lifted the book even more. Worth a listen though

Sweet easy listen

The story idea isn’t terrible, it just feels like it’s been thrown together by ChatGPT and bad clichés, by an angsty teenager. That being said, nothing will be as bad as the narrator, who I’m positive is a robot, and you can’t ever convince me otherwise. There’s story doesn’t connect and the narrator is making it worse.

There’s a moment in the book where the main character explains what DNF means, to her Mother, (Do Not Finish) that I’m finding very apt.

The narration is quite possibly the worst I’ve ever heard.

I found this book really hard to finish and I have OCD and make myself finish them no matter how bad, this was a close run thing though. It’s not duel narration as the male only narrates one chapter. The female narrator has no emotion in her voice at all and as a consequence it is hard to find any connection with any of the characters. I also found it to be quite preachy about the genre of contemporary romance and a bit self congratulatory.

Dull

I enjoyed the book but the narrator was so robotic. There was no inflection and got really irritating. Think I would have enjoyed it better if I had read it instead.

Good story
