buy the book. the fantastic writing was ruined by the excruciating narration. not suitable for listening.

fantastic writing ruined by excruciating reading

I enjoyed the premise of the book but it was ruined by the unfortunate choice of reader whose inappropriate voice drove me mad. Some of her prononciation of certain French place names was excruciating such as Fontainebleau, Chaillot, Champ de Mars. I would not have persisted but this book was a gift so I felt compelled to stick with it.
