About this listen

My beautiful boy.... Created in love.... Born into hatred.

There were so many terrifying stories about the Jews. People called them useless vermin, filthy, dangerous. Before I met Abram, I was afraid of them, too. But I am about to tell you a very different story—a forbidden story.

My love for Abram defied all reason...as well as German law.

Tonight our son giggles with excitement as he blows out the candles on his birthday cake. But our safety is nothing but an illusion. As his candles burn out, a window shatters outside. The room shudders as the synagogue down the street is engulfed in flames.

Kristallnacht has begun.

When my hidden paradise crumbles like a stack of cards, I must do everything in my power to protect that which is most precious to me. My son's secret must remain hidden.

Before we lose everything.

What a powerful story 😮 and because I wasn’t watching my chapters while listening I was shocked when it came to the end 😩. For me it was a fantastic listen and at times very sad, I know it was written as fiction ( but we know there is some truth behind it all). I’m just about to buy more credits so that I can listen to book 2, ( I’ve just googled to see what it’s called Stolen child, and Web of Secrets book 3) can’t wait for my end of month credit. This is why it is great that you can listen to free books, it gives you the chance to choose authors that you have not heard of and it introduces you to new ones. This series is truly worth a listen/ read. God rest all the souls that perished before ww2 and during 🙏🏾.

Wow

I’d not heard of this author before and downloaded this audio book for free. I’m so glad that I did. Although this is a heartbreaking story I’ve found it to be compulsive listening. Great narration too. Have already downloaded the next book in the series. Would definitely recommend

One of the worst books I've bought! Where to begin? The writing style is really stilted & juvenile, much like a high school essay or young adult novel. It lacks substance & is very repetitive. The same points are repeated continuously throughout the book, as if assuming we will forget each point. There's no suspense or wonder. The writer laboriously tells us everything, word for word, leaving nothing for our own thought process. The characters are weak & lack any real depth. Much of the storyline is simply not believable. A two year old baby who strings long sentences together! The main character is a girl who has spent years being sexually & physically abused by the men in her life, yet she immediately falls for Abram who forcibly kisses her, not long after their first meeting. This, along with most of the plot line, shows a distinct lack of research by the author. The book ends so abruptly that it seems as if some of it is actually missing. There are two sequels, but I couldn't possibly listen to any more of this. I wasn't fond of the narrator, who sounds distant & stilted but to be fair that may well be the best she could do with a book that is also stilted & distant.

Truly awful!
