Along with the first book in this series, this really lacked an overall plot. It is disjointed and stilted. It comes across as a series of unrelated short stories. Stories that are written in a very juvenile and immature style. There's no character development at all. Much of this book is filled with the details from the previous book - of course there's always a bit of a recap, especially if the author wants the book to be a standalone. However, the recap consists of paragraph after paragraph of each character recounting the events of the previous book, as if they're actually talking to themselves. It just doesn't work and simply shows the lack of real skill and imagination from the writer. Additionally, the author throws in random acts of violence, brutality and rape, but not in any meaningful way. Likewise, some difficult subjects - such as homosexuality are introduced but without it actually adding anything to the plot. The entire book is repetitive and simplistic. The narrator was stilted and forced, but that may be the material she was reading.

If I could award ZERO stars I would.
