Casey never stays anywhere for long but the house that Jesse now owns holds special memories of the time she spent there with Lou who touched Jesse’s life as well. She enjoys getting a reaction out of Jesse and isn’t about to just do what he says and once they finally acknowledge that the sparks of antagonism between them are sparks of a different nature the heat is on.
Due to their pasts neither Jesse nor Casey allow people close, and I enjoyed seeing them try to deny their feelings for each other until they realized what their pets already knew that they were meant to be together. John Lane brings out the gruff yet protective side of Jesse while Maxine Mitchell brings both the sass and insecurities of Casey.

As a romcom there is no doubt you'll laugh but this grumpy/sunshine duo almost had me p'ing my pants, I laughed so hard.
Casey, our FMC, has such a devil may care attitude and manages to rub Jesse up the wrong way, without trying.
Jesse has rules, sensible rules...Casey, to be fair, thinks carefully...before she decides not to follow them.
Their interactions, banter and chemistry are off the charts and its not long before Jesse is a whole lot less grumpy. He may even smile!!
I loved this book...and I may be just a smidgeon in love with Casey myself.
Everyone needs to take note on how to bring their men to their knees...Casey style!
The narration by John Lane and Maxine Mitchell is just simply, perfect. I loved every second of their portrayal of this amazing book.
