About this listen

Faking it never felt this good.

Dr. Easton Walsh thought she’d be showing up to her best friend’s wedding with a dazzling ring and a fiancé everyone wanted to Instagram. Instead, her boyfriend dumped her over what was supposed to be a proposal dinner and the only man offering her a lifeline is the last one she’d ever choose: Elijah Cabot. Her best friend’s older brother. The guy who broke her heart once already.

He'll help make her ex jealous...All she has to do is help him drive his grandmother across several states to the wedding. Easy.

But the fake relationship is starting to feel real, and the longer the trip goes on, the harder it is for Easton to remember that Boston—and her carefully built life—don’t include Elijah. Especially when her ex starts dangling threats that could derail her career if she doesn’t come back to him.

Now Easton has to decide: risk everything for a second chance at the one man she shouldn’t want…or keep playing it safe, even if it means losing the best thing that’s ever happened to her—again.

This is the third book in The Favorite series. Easton and Elijah's second-chance love story is heartfelt, engaging, and beautifully written. I liked Elijah's determination. I especially loved Elijah’s determination and the emotional push and pull between them, balanced with humor and sweet moments. Elijah’s grandmother completely steals the show—she’s such a memorable character! Kasi Hollowell and James Cassidy deliver a wonderful narration that brings the story to life. I really enjoyed this one.

This story follows Easton, who was meant to attend her best friend’s wedding with a man by her side, a ring on her finger, and a future she believed in. But everything comes crashing down when he doesn’t propose and instead breaks things off. Now questioning everything, the last person she expects to help make her ex jealous is Elijah her best friend’s older brother and longtime crush.

My first Elizabeth book, and it definitely won’t be my last. I cannot believe I waited this long to read something by her. I also highly recommend the audiobook. James and Kasi did a brilliant job bringing the characters to life.

Starting with the storyline it was gritty, raw, and a complete rollercoaster of emotions everything I love in romance. Easton has been through so much, and after her recent breakup, she’s someone who changed who she was to fit into her ex’s world. She becomes self conscious about her choices and how she’s perceived following the split. When Elijah enters the picture, he calls out those changes and helps her rediscover who she used to be. I loved this aspect of the story there were so many layers to it.

Her relationship with her father and family felt quite relatable to what I grew up around, but you really see Easton’s strength and how much she’s overcome to get where she is now. I loved watching the banter, chemistry and tension between Easton and Elijah unfold.

I do want to mention the whiplash I felt between Easton and Elijah it was really drawn out to the end, making it feel like a massive slow burn. I also struggled a little with Elijah’s unhinged grandma. That said, there was always something happening, which is why I enjoyed. Im looking forward to reading more of Elizabeth’s work in the future.

This book is so good that I inhaled it in one day. Between the push and pull between Easton and Elijah, the comedy that his grandmother and Betty bring to the table, and the reveal of why everything happened the way it did, I was hooked! These characters are all so well done, and because this is the first book I've read in this series, it has me wanting to binge read the others as well. Getting to their HEA is an adventure for sure and a battle of getting over the past, but ugh, they're so good together, and the wait is so worth it.

I listened to this one on audiobook, and the narrators did a fantastic job. Their voices fit these characters so well, and they did a great putting emotion in their voices where it was needed and a laughing lit when it called for it. This really pulls you into the story and makes it that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend this audiobook for that alone, but the story itself is so worth the listen that if you skip it, you'll be missing out.

Elizabeth O'Roark knows how to warm my heart and this enemies to lovers story is fantastic. Just the right amount of push pull and chemistry and I loved it. Easton has come back to town after being dumped on the night she thought she was being proposed to. Seeing her best friend's brother Elijah was not expected and not welcomed. Years after he left her, she still finds her heart wrecked. But the longer she is in town, and Elijah's need to keep Easton from her toxic family leads him to helping make her ex jealous and pretend they are together. Feelings, witty banter, family drama and the cutest baby all lead to a fabulous addition to the Favorites series. I love the characters, each bringing so much to the story. Elijah's grandmother is definitely a favorite and finding out the intriguing history of both families is key to my love of this. It's interesting, it's passionate and it's real. Loved it!

Kasi Hollowell and James Cassidy are phenomenal together. They bring the chemistry to Elijah and Easton, create the animosity, the hesitance, the jealousy and the passion. It's hard not to love every scene, even when I was frustrated, the voices kept me interested and excited for the results! They are perfectly cast and I loved the listen!

Elizabeth O’Roark brings you another fun “Favorites”, and along with its amazing back-and-forth banter, it is an emotionally moving and very captivating enemies-to-lovers second chance romance. I thought the two lead characters, Dr. Easton Walsh and Elijah Cabot, were great, both having intriguing backstories, and the undeniable chemistry between them was electric. Elijah is Easton’s best friend, Kelsey’s brother, and the history between them is not good. Easton was expecting a proposal from her boyfriend of two years, but she got something else instead, a broken heart. Kelsey returns home, and with Kelsey’s wedding coming up, Elijah, who wants to get Sophie away from her toxic family, wants her to accompany his grandmother on the drive to the wedding in New Orleans. He convinces her it will look like she moved on from her ex and it is a great way to make her ex jealous and get him running back to her. There is never a dull moment on the road-trip, fun granny scenes, lots of great banter, and even more self-reflection and self-discovery for Easton. I loved all the layers of the story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions, and a slow-burn, but so worth the wait romance, take that Thomas!! As always, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Elizabeth O’Roark, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧Kasi Hollowell and James Cassidy did a fabulous job bringing the characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Hollowell was a natural as Easton, grasping all sides of her personality, from her insecurities to her wit to her fierceness. Cassidy did the same in Elijah’s role, showcasing his personality perfectly and was swoon-worthy in the role. Both were fantastic at voicing and performing the roles of the side and secondary characters, too. They set the ideal tone for the story, conveyed all the characters’ emotions in their performance and had you feeling each one. These two are a perfect pairing, with voices and talent that complement each other and an entertaining performance that keeps hooked to the story.
